Video Recent Track Day at Thunderhill, Willows, Ca.

Last Veteran's day I joined a few friends for a weekday romp around Thunderhill Raceway. So, I thought I post a video of a couple of the better laps and see what you guys think. Any helpful hints would be greatly appreciated!

Oh, and I'm just playing around with the video editing software so don't worry, the music just walks you in and out of the vid.

For giggles I'm throwing in some cutting room floor material that made me laugh. I was "helping" a friend in his 1990 BMW E30 on the same day and this is just a quick 2 minute video of the silly things said or done when we forget the cameras are recording.

Enjoy!

P.S. Thanks, Chuck!

Nice lap. I keep it in 4th thru T1 and downshift to 3rd before entering T2. T1 can be very high speed and you want to avoid unsettling the car there.

Love the second vid. Good to see you having some fun. Might want to consider moving that wiper stalk. LOL

Ah ha! I thought you might be around these parts! Thanks for the tip. That's exactly the thing I was looking for. I think I may be keeping my previously slower speed gear changes in place even though my overall confidence and pace has picked up. I'll add that to my 'To Do' list next go around.

You get that C2S, yet?

Good idea! Yeah, it was a unique challenge to get into someone else's car and perform comfortably. It was just a glimpse into the life of being an instructor and I got to say, I don't know how people do that. At least, without any controls on their side!

Didn't realize that was you at first, then saw your sig. Very nice line around T'Hill. Saw that you were using the bypass for T5. I don't have much experience with that; who were you running with?

Picked up an '09 C2S last week in Palm Springs. Porsche Racing Green, very striking. Am just getting used to the PDK. Will be at Sears Point on Dec 2nd with Hooked on Driving.

Previous owner put all season tires on it, not nearly as sticky as what I'm used to. Will have to be very cautious as 65HP more and less grip is a recipe for disaster if I'm not careful.

Thanks for the compliments. That event was with the Lotus Club - Golden Gate. It came recommended to me by Mikmyu from the GT3 forum partly due to the tremendous amounts of track time. Also, I didn't have to use up any vacation time to attend, which is nice.

Congratulations on your C2S! Sounds great and I know those PDK cars are very quick. If I were in the market for a a clutchless style car it would be PDK all the way. Interesting the previous owner put on all season tires on it considering it was located in Palm Springs. Have fun at Sears and since I don't think I can make a stop by on Dec 2nd, I'd love to see a pic or two of the new car.

Here is a pic of the new girl in the garage. Pics of previous cars in the background over my workbench.

Gorgeous! That color green has a nice deep/rich look to it. I love the clean garage, as well. Enjoy it to the fullest and in good health. I may stop by Sears on the 2nd after all, by the way. And, if I do, I'll be sure to find you so you can tell me how you're getting along with the new car.
