Is my P-car high and other concerns

My car seems forgetful.

So this has happened 3 times so far in the week I've owned the Porsche
I am driving and the "check oil" message comes up (the red exclamation mark). I pull over, go into the check oil option and it does the 1minute oil calculation thingy, and the sign goes off because it reassured itself

It feels like the car is high or something and all of a sudden just remembers "oh damn, did I forget my oil somewhere? oh no.. there it is..."
I read that they use up a lot of oil, but the oil is new and all there... :S

Also it never remembers my A/C preference.. After I shut down the car and turn it back on, it automatically goes to 19C and A/C off and forgets where I want the air to shoot (down and middle). My BMW used to remember every setting of my A/C.
is this normal behavior?

Also, is there a way for auto lights? Much missed feature

Sorry for the long post.
for those who clicked by accident.. here is a picture of a cute puppy

usually I post *****, but I don't know the rules around here yet

When your oil level comes up, where is it on the scale? You might need to add some.

As for the AC, it is set to your key and returns to the preset "setting" when ever you restart your car. This is a setting set up on the PCM, read the manual as I don't recall exactly where it is.

As for the automatic headlights, there is no way to have them turn on when it gets dark. Much like starting your car with your left hand, you will get use to it.

Perhaps there is just enough oil that if the car is slighly uneven the light goes on . Then when it's checked at standstill on even surface it resets clear.

It sounds like you need about a quart but to be certain and since you just bought the car last week I suggest that you take to to the dealership to have service look it over. They'll probably top off the oil for you. It's also a pleasant way to introduce yourself to the technicians in service with a simple fix.

If you have the SC package then go into PCM, under Individual Settings and then <something> Memory (forgot the exact name), you should be able to program the A/C for the key. Whenever you use that key, it'll retrieve the settings for you automatically.

This is what the oil check says.
It did it again when I was getting my plates installed and I showed it to my Sales Rep. He told me to bring it in to the garage to check it out, but he assured me they gave me new oil before giving me the car. Ah well.

I found the A/C thing thanks NorthVan and TooSixy

@lacrosse
hehe, some boards don't like it. better to get a feel for it then get banned
good to know.. I'll put up SFW ***** from now on

^ It seems that you have too much oil. You should go to the dealer and have them set the level right. It is far worse to overfill than being less than max. If the reading is between low and hi it's fine.

Agree - too many folks try to make sure the reading is exactly at the top bar by topping off and inadvertently overfilling. If you feel compelled to add oil be sure to add in small increments -0.5l at a time - there is only 1.2l between min and max readings.

The very top bar above the max line should be blank. His is solid white meaning overfilled.

This is what the proper oil level should look like in a 9987.2:

Note the black segment above the top arrow.
