Smile

You have a 2007 997 and therefore first generation 997 (997.1) I also have a 2007 Carrera (C4S) and wanted a better exhaust note. I did the "Gundo hack" that was detailed on this website (do a search for "gundo hack") and it completely transformed the sound of the car. Cost me all of $300 and I retained the original mufflers albeit altered slightly with a partial by-pass. I had my mechanic remove the mufflers and then take them to a welding shop for the bypass welding pipe. I used 1 1/2 inch bypass stainless pipe versus the 2 Inch and to my ear the sound is perfect. I have had so many complements on the sound which is gutteral when you get on it, but has no resonance when driving on freeway at a constant speed. Good luck with your purchase.

skip the non-sense, and drive your car.
just make sure you got a set of winter tires on and if you will happen to drive over salt/sand mix on a highway - wash undercarriage with water hose when you arrive home (assuming car sits in the heated garage after that).

Enjoy your car! I too live in winter climes (Cleveland), so my car is resting for the winter. I'm tempted to get another set of rims/tires and drive it for the winter. But then I'd have to convince my wife I really NEED that new set of modular rims I've had my eye on for the spring...
