dr997 is infamous around these parts
Hard to get into first sometimes

Have a 2006 C2S that sometimes is hard getting into first gear. Have to drop to second then goes in. Car is cpo'd and wondering if its covered and what it is. Was thinking syncro bu i do not know. Car has 20K miles

Typical. My '09 is the same way. It is especially "stiff" when cold, however it does loosen up as the car reaches operating temperature. I doubt you have anything to be concerned about as long as the transmission is performing OK otherwise.

Or it could be that the linkage cable is about to go.
I had the same thing over the past month or so and last week the cable snapped (only one usable gear left when that happens).

Now I have a new cable and the gears are MUCH easier to find.

I have an '09 and does it occasionally even when warmed up.

same problem on my 06 C2s with 25k miles somtimes you gota do the 2nd then first gear trick

This has been an issue with the short shifter on the 997 since it was first produced. Lots of threads on this minor issue. Do a search here or on the rennlist forum.
