Depress clutch message car won't start

I have been getting the depress clutch message when I try to start my car even though I have the clutch engaged. The problem seems to occur intermittently. When it does sometimes I have to push the clutch in and out several times while tryingto start the car. Anyone else ever have this problem or know if it is a simple fix?

It sounds like a bad clutch-activated switch.

It's the clutch switch. My went out a year ago, out of warranty, left me stranded. Get it replaced by warranty immediately.

Same issue when I first had the C2S...... was a quick switch fix at the dealer.

it is just a micro switch on the bottom side of dash. Stick you head where the clutch arm is and look up, you will see it. You can even just bypass it by wrapping a bare wire across the two connecting terminals of the micro switch. You can then start the car with out even stepping on the clutch. Just make sure you are in neutral!

Sounds like a pretty easy fix. I think the brake switch is ~$13 from Suncoast so assuming it's a similar part maybe it's a cheap fix too!

extremely easy. I actually liked it without the switch working but I know the protection is there to keep my car safe from others, not from me! :P

Yes. Had mine replaced under CPO. I think the part was listed at $46.00 on the invoice.

Mine is doing the same thing. I also put a jump wire across the terminals til I can get to the dealer. No trouble starting now. The dealer here had the part in stock which means it isn't as rare as Sunset would have you believe. I'm not sure how the clutch could be causing an electrical problem and would love to hear an explanation from Sunset.

I can't believe Sunset said that. I just had my C4 in there for the same problem - and it was a really quick switch swap. Like v35 said, get it switched out ASAP before it really doesn't work and you get stuck. I didn't know about the bypass option though...

Just to be fair, I called Sunset first and the service guy spoke to a technician who came back with the possible clutch being the cause. They have not seen the car. Although, I cannot imagine the clutch going even being a possiblity.
