2 New Porsches in 1 year - Gluttonous?

Hi All,

Guess I need of a bit of advice. After being a BMW guy for years I have become addicted to Porsche. Currently my wife and I have on order a Cayenne TT (April delivery) and in our stable is a 135i cab that is suppose to be "hers" but I have a feeling I will be stuck with the 1 series once the CTT arrives. I am getting lured in by a deal that is just too good to turn away on a 6speed Grey Metallic C4S - nicely equipped. I am usually not a lease kind of guy but the deal on this C4S Cab is untouchable - not to mention its only for 24 months. I want to get rid of the 135 when the CTT arrives and stay with the C4S and the CTT - my wife is completely against the idea of owning two Porsches in fear of what family and friends may say about us. I founded my company 10 years ago and its kind of anniversary gift to myself - not to mention that my partner and I are both about to buy C4Ss together - pretty cool. I am trying to talk logic into her that its a grey Porsche and we could de-badge the CTT so people don't know what it is but she is convinced everyone will eventually find out and start "talking". I realize that this is a good problem to have but I need some guidance on this because we are suppose to go in tomorrow and finalize the paper work. Maybe just casually doing it will be less of a "surprise". We are not a show off couple but I will admit that we like nice things and do our best to be classy and humble about it. Ideas.. experiences?

Life is short. Clearly you have done well so you must have made good decisions along the way. Go for what you love!

My wife was embarrassed when we bought ours to. To her it was just a frivolous purchase. She didn't tell anyone about it and would change the subject if I brought it up with friends. That lasted about a month. She got over it fairly quick and now, a year later, has mentioned that she wants a cayman. She'll get over it once she gets addicted to the drive.

I think you mean "gluttonous" As in - the Sultan of Brunei's car/wife collection is gluttonous. A CTT and 911 is par for the course in LA.

Also, "Glutenous" is close to "Gluteus" which is .... butt.

Kidding aside, nice choice of vehicles. Enjoy and who cares what others
think. We work hard for our toys .... and pay a lot of taxes

I relate....we have 2 Cayennes and a C2 Cab....They may talk but I am the guy working day and night to have them. I do feel like it appears excessive, but again, I got the honestly....

Uhn, I was exactly in your situation this Oct. Bought a brand new C4S, much to everyone's dismay last Nov '09 (and sure jealousy), then came the 3.2 to cure my severe Porscheitis ( I downplayed the cost for both the cars) and now a brand new overloaded CS well beyond a base CTT price range. I did NOT have loose cash lying around but at the same time know that this is well within my budget.

My wife had the same issues that yours had but at the same time she and my kids loved the CS. I could not drive anything but Porsche even for a family hauler. My kids were being shoehorned into both my Porsches even for long drives. I told myself enough is enough and this is how I justified the purchase: Life is short. I do not have other expensive hobbies. I work hard. I am enjoying my car so my family should enjoy theirs. I have seen too many people around me splurge for their dream home or car or watch or vacation after it is too late ie. Too old to enjoy or kids out to college (hence no longer need a big home that they got into) or have a recent diagnosis of a bad illness hence cannot truly enjoy what they got. PM me if you need more support, again I see me in you and my wife in yours. Exact situation. Do you have two wonderful daughters too like me .....

BTW, I went for it.......

Gosh, I don't even have a wife I can blame. I leased my C2S in May 09, then purchased my P4S in May 10. Then again, the fact that I don't have a wife (or kids) is the reason I can afford two new P-cars. My C2S lease is up this coming May and I'm really getting the urge for a CGTS. It never stops...

However. I've recently gotten into PCA AX and HPDE events, and went through a set of rear tires for the C2S between August and December. I may end just buying out the C2S and spending the extra money on tires and brakes

The fact that you're still in business with your partner after 10 years, and still seem to think of him fondly, justifies any type of purchase you desire. I say buy a Panamera too.

Yup that sounds like Toronto society.

Who cares what anyone says? Besides, there are enough high end cars running around Toronto.

Bah! If they don't yammer about you, they will yammer about somebody else. Who cares? let them wag their tongues.

People need to live their lives according to their means, and what is right for them. Not what somebody else thinks.

If I based my life's decisions and actions on what people say about me, I'd need a rubber room...

It is inappropriate

for you to come on a Porsche board and ask a bunch of nuts like us if you should own two Porsches. Of course you should! This is coming from someone who has owned 17 911's over the past two decades. My wife doesn't think I'm gluttonous, just insane.

Thanks for the spelling correction... changed! Thought I had it wrong. Don't get me started about taxes

Do it dude. My wife is the same way. Can't stand letting people know we have one, let alone a loud, twin turbo'd version of the C4S. Do it man. I bought the C4S when I still had my modified Boxster. Got rid of the Boxster, now looking for a 7GT3 next. Do it my friend. Many other members have told you the same thing. Do you feel you earned it? Will you be sacrificing the well being and financial circumstances of your family? Do you care what other people think about you? Here's the big question, were there people in your life 10 years ago who told you that you were crazy to start a business, especially with a partner? If you did, I'm sure they are eating their words. Listen man, women overthink things. BUY it and see if the 4S can come the same time sa the CTT. Put some big red bows on both cars and surprise your wife. Mine thought I was crazy when telling her I was going to buy it, but when I had it delivered with a red bow,, buddy, she was blown away and fell in love with it.

Do it!!!!!
