Strut rattle?

I have Damptronics on my car, and I have found periodically that after a long drive on the highway (say 50 miles or so), there is what sounds like a deep rattling sound under the car when I slow down to slower speeds, even like 10 mph. It sounds like a loose exhaust pipe rattling underneath. The sound may be there at higher speeds but not audible due to all the road noise. It is hard to pinpoint whether it is towards the rear, or right under the seats, or from the front. This happened last night again, and I did notice that when I parked in the garage and turned the wheels while stationary (with the engine still running), there was a creaking sound from the front end that isn't normally there. Just wondered if this might be indicative of problems with the strut mounts?

Funny enough, this never appears during regular driving for weeks on end, but only after longer drives.

I have a similar setup with aftermarket coilovers and sway bars. I was getting a lot of rattling in the front end at low speed. Once on the lift it was obvious the bolts had come loose! Tightened up, the noise went away and the handling became dramatically better.

Thanks. I will take it in to have the mounts checked out. What baffles me is that it isn't always a problem. I had the car out today for a nice drive and there wasn't a sign of any rattling anywhere.

Although I don't yet have a set of damptronics on my car yet. I have done quite a bit of research on them. I've read that the Bilstein sway bar end links from the kit are very weak and sometimes not installed correctly. You may want to do a quick check in the wheel well if one of the links are dangling from the sway bar. Handling I would suspect would feel a bit sloppy as well.

Rear suspension noises in my 06 are temp. dependent but: quiet in cold, creaky in heat! I suspect the rubber bushings but am trying to ignore the whole thing, esp now since it has been in the 20's-30's in NY. Searching this (in the .1's at least) indicates it is an annoyance but does not affect handling or performance. If you have anything done back there you will probably need to have the rear end realigned.
