Is the Panamera styling growing on anyone else?

I HATED the styling of the rear end of the Panamera when official pictures were first available. I thought that maybe it looked better in person, but when I saw my first one a year ago, that turned out to decidedly NOT to be the case.

From car press, Top Gear, and conversations with friends and car people in general, I'm pretty sure that my reaction didn't put me in the minority.

The thing is, a year later, I find myself thinking that it's not so bad...and that I might actually imagine owning one.

Is it just me?

Also, has anyone else read Chris Harris' editorial in the new Excellence? I don't agree entirely, but I also don't think the general trajectory is wrong.

It's growing on me. A ride in a turbo with three others was pretty impressive.

Single w/997.2 S

I would own a Panamera 4S if I had a wfe and child. but since I am single I will stick with my 2009 997.2 S I will wait till September and order a 2012 911 S. Would consider trading 997.2 S for Panamera S, wife and child and hugh sums of money$$$

My wife and I went and test drove one recently. My wife hated it in the pics and I was indifferent. Then we went and looked at them in person and my wife was in love with the interior and exterior and was very impressed as well. I will say this much, She and I were less than impressed with the base model handling and power when compared to her Audi S5 ( She would be trading her S5 in for it) and the Audi S6 we drove as well. If we end up purchasing one it would have to be at least an S or turbo but those are a bit pricey for what they are IMHO.

I'm very fond of the Panamera. Not fond of the price for new -- happy to make it my DD is a couple of years when a 2010 4S goes for ~60K. I drove a 2010 turbo P. Way cool -- but again, the price/value ratio does not compute for me.

I love the Panamera . The only thing stopping me from buying one is that i don't need that much space and because I'd have to park it outside . I sometimes teeter back and forth with what i will replace the M3 with at some point -- and the Panamera S is the top contender.

My wife loves the look of it (the Turbo). She saw one on the dealer floor and made the comment that if it were not for having to haul around the kids, she would be more than happy to drive one.

I hated it when it was first released. But where I live I have seen them a bunch on the road. They have really grown on me.

I just spent a cpl of days in a new loaner. Power and torque was great, seats were very comfortable, ergonomics were good. My issue is not so much the rear styling(I don't care for it much), my issue is rear and rear side visibility isn;t good enough for me. It didn't bother me at first, but I found lane changes a challege. I appreciate the loaner, but needless to say I was very glad to get the '11 Cayenne out of the shop!

I used to really hate it...now I just hate it. I like Porsche, but I'm not such a fanboy that I'll take whatever they build. I like the 911's in all variants, the Boxster, the Cayman...but I still find the Cayenne ugly and pointless and the Panamera just ugly. It's good that they have the ugly ones though, because they seem to be keeping the company afloat.

Its growing on me (in a way) but in general terms i like a car to be a "wow" knock me over with the looks and lines. The Panamera has never done that even though you can clearly identify the substance of this P car when gazing over it in the flesh. Imo I really think a lot depends upon the exterior colour and wheel/body kit/tail pipe options that determine its physicall outcome in the eyes of the general public. When these things are all working in synch the car looks fine....and can actually pop from certain angles. But is it drop dead georgeous in plain jane out of the box mode....sadly NO!
I'm sure the next model will no doubt go a long way forward in the looks dept as has the new cayenne even though it still has some ways to go imho.
