Opinions of negotiations?
Hey Taylor. My max I've set is 40. No higher. I have to put a limit on myself. You all probably get that part. If I couldn't find an S, I was willing to find a really great C2. I am getting this one for 40. Silver (not important, just no red), Black leather(leather important), 6 speed, 44,000miles, Nav, electric seats (not a big deal), heated seats (don't care), K40 integrated radar detector and laser diffuser (mmmm laser. sarcasm) and looks great. I was not set on this one. I had another lined up if this guy backed out.
BTW, he came to his senses. Going to pick it up tomorrow. I'll put some pics up when I get back. Driving it back down the West coast to TX! Talk to you guys in 2 days!

Regardless, you'll love the drive. Congrats and since the deal is done, just look ahead.
Looking forward to the pics!
never 'paypal'. never give 'deposits'.
a payment for used car should be made in a cashiers check, in the presence of a notary after you both sign purchase agreement and notary certifies it.
anything else is bogus, there are many cars around there and any schemers can go and find another sucker.
tell seller he can go and find whoever he wants, and what you now will pay $3K less than you originally offered. greedy bastards should get punished. good luck to him selling 997 car right now in the middle of the winter.
and do not pay for inspection with your own money. offer to subtract this amount from purchase price, but do not pay your own cash for anything you do not own, nevermind what it is.

In the past two Porsche long distance purchases, I have agreed to a price, made a bill of sale (with a statement that anything discovered in the PPI over X dollars will be negotiated or the buyers has the option to make the sale null and void if an agreement is not reached), stipulate the deposit have the agreement signed and faxed to each other. I have wired the money or sent a check by mail. By having the agreement both parties are legally obligated to the sale, unless the PPI shows major issues.
Hey congrats on holding your ground! Have a nice drive back - just remember to bring some rain gear - it's raining right now... And plan your trip back safely - don't get into any snow along the way!
Greedy jerks
It has nothing to do with P-cars. I would get my $175 back and stop doing business with the guy. There are lots of cars out there.
So I am negotiating a C2. I pay to have a pre purchase inspection after he and I have agreed on a price we both like. I told him I would buy it pending the inspection. The car passes with flying colors. I tell him I can paypal him a deposit, have a friend bring it buy, etc. I can even have the friend pay for the car until I can get up there on Monday.
He says a guy wanted to come by and look this weekend. He will call and cancel that guy if I want it. This guy says if he likes the car he'll give him asking price...$1600 more. Seller sends me an email trying to talk me up $1000. If I don't want to pay more, he'll refund my $175 inspection....
Is it just me or is that dirty? I sent him a message that I will take the car at the agreed price and I think he negotiated in bad faith. I still want the car, but I will not go up one penny just on principle.
This is my first P-car. Please tell me others don't pull this bull.

Get your $175 back right away... See if the car is sold after the weekend. If not, then tell the sales guy, that you are not sure but you might still be interested and you can get the money together - oh by the way, now you only have whatever your offer was this week minus $750 because you spent it on Christmas shopping. Tell him you are not done and still have few more gifts to buy. You are actually on your way to the mall and he needs to hurry up and accept your offer!
You have the upper hand in this.

Either way get your $175 back.. This guys sounds dishonorable. You had a deal.
Good for you keeping the emotion out of it and sticking to business and your orignal goal...and getting the outcome you wanted.
