No problem! I can tell you from experience when I had a car that got lower in the rear and the rear toe went out and vaporized a set of rear tires. The treads looked good at the edge, but the insides were down to the belts!

 

Sorry but you are very wrong on this asumption. My car is aligned for the track....-2.3 camber and zero toe up front and -2 camber and .14 toe in the rear. All 3 997's I've owned came from the factory way out of alignment spec...even for a street alignment. I have way more camber than a street car but my toe is dialed in for handling and it does help with tire life...too.

 

10k on oem pirrelis with tread left. But they have been sliding a bit since 8k

 

15k miles max on street use on rears 25k on front

 

I got something just over 12 K . Might have pushed them a little further but picked up a screw in the tread and as the wear bars were already at the tread depth I decided to replace them. Figure the fronts will go when the backs need to replaced so will look at alternate tire choices at that time.

 

Well we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. My highly modified STi has the same type of tire wear pattern. I've tried the alignments that don't wear the inside of the tires as fast, and I don't like it.

 

This would be great thread to segue to what will you buy next to replace your current set of tires? I'm thinking of shelling out the bucks for the PS2's, but the latest version of the tire (N2) is up to $1800 a set before mounting and balancing! Just so hard to justify when the Hankooks are $800!

 

Got about 12,000 on my first set of PS2's (rears only), another 12K on second set and replaced all 4 with the NEW Pirelli PZero N2's for $1400.

I had Pirellis on my 996 before and only got about 7000 out of the rears. They were noisy and I wasn't crazy about the handling so I was hesitant to put them on my 997. However, I read some very good reviews on the new N2's so, for $400 less than the PS2's, I decided to give 'em try. So far with a couple thousand miles on 'em I am pleased. Fairly quiet, good grip. We'll see how long they last. We're getting some pretty good rain here in SoCal so maybe I'll try to find a vacant parking lot and see how far I can push them in the wet.

 

I got about 9500 miles on my 09 C4S, it's easier to go through tires on a 6sp tranny.

 

I am very surprise to see that my rears at 14K are in very good shape and with many miles left. Never thought it could handle so well this amount of miles, and I too slide alot (weekly ). I have Pirelli Pzero.
