With the help of the forum and rennlist, I installed the Mobridge BT-Ipod kit. Took me 2.5 hrs to install it.

My advice to anyone who wants to do it, PREPARE your tools. Below is what I used:

1. Torx set-20 & 30
2. Allen wrench 5 mm.
3. Wrench size 7 mm
4. Electrical tape or Electrical Taps, gauge 12 and 22.
5. Industrial strength Velcro
6. Mobridge BT-Ipod kit.

Saved me a bunch for my next mods. I am not too happy to spend $1000 to 1500(if dealer installed) for the BT-ipod kit. Its too easy, it just needs time.

Got the Mobridge kit fot $600 plus $25 for the tool.

Next is the XM kit. I will wait this summer to do it, it was freezing in my garage when I did it as I cannot wait not to have BT in my car.

Anybody who needs help in installing the mobridge BT-ipod kit in a 1st gen 997 coupe, PM me, I will try to help you out.

Thanks buff2001 -- glad to hear you had no trouble with your install -- planning to do this myself as soon as the weather breaks. Just a tad too cold in my garage for me to try now. Good to know I'll have someone to bail my out should run into probs though.

Sure, just let me know. The hardest part is pulling the side leather pieces besides the pcm and where to place the unit. Taping for power and fiber cable is the easy part.

I certainly wouldn't have guessed that one.... Power taps, fiber optics and those "extra" parts that seemed to show up at the end of some of my DIY projects are what scare the crap out of me. Thanks for the heads up.

The removal of those side leather pieces is easier after doing it once.
