advice please :)
I realized earlier than most that there's a lot more to be had from life than just material things and an easy lifestyle. I want to be able to get up every day knowing that I'm doing something I love, something that gives back and at the same time keeps my family secure.
Instead I saw this (quoting your 1st post below) -- So did others .
"I don't actually *need* the money from the Porsche, far from it in fact, it's just a sensibility thing and an effort to look to the future. Basically I'm toying with the idea of trading both the 135i and the 911 against a new M3 in a year or so's time so as to guarantee me free motoring throughout the remaining couple of years of medical school before I buy my GT3. "
Maybe this thread did help you .
Good luck .

I never saw this in your first post.

Just because I don't need these things in my life, doesn't mean that I wouldn't like them. Would you rather I was stupid with my money or that I look and think forward with my intentions? $10k may seem insignificant to you but it's $10k *LESS* I have to put away later or add, hence the question.
I noticed you highlighted the bits that do contradict but not the joining part that ties them together in the correct way. I don't need the money from the Porsche but is it hard to imagine that I'd like to have stable, worry free motoring during the final couple of years of my school?
As I posted a while back anyway, I'm not going to go with the M3 at all. I fail to see the point in pooling two cars into one that isn't really what I want. I'm going to extend the warranty (good quote from my dealer) and drive it for another 3 years before I sell it. 3 years from now I have no idea what will happen but I would like to have a rough idea of what I would like to do and if that involves banking the money for a few years, so be it.

Personally I don't want this thread closed, a good forum discussion doesn't have to stick rigidly to the topic, it branches. This thread has been both entertaining and very enlightening actually and I would request that it remains open and the discussion continue.
Most of us come here and share ideas about the one thing we all have in common --Porsches . Even on that we don't always agree but the car is something that brings us all together .
When off topic discussions arise they place members into discussions that they probably would not have expected or wanted in a place they come to for fun . Whether you became a doctor or not it doesn't matter to anyone else but you.
I think everyone agrees on one thing .. wishing you well .

FWIW, I hope you and I end up like Targa Tim. Old time docs like him and my old man are good inspiration for us younger guys. Dave, I promised my mother I would wait until I was a couple years out of residency before getting my 911, you beat me and TT to the punch
