you are better off using them until they are of no good use. From my personal experience those cracks dont really matter . You will be just fine. Its absolutely fine to use tires that are upto 10 years old. If they were any older than 10 yrs I would replace them.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. The tires are the only things keeping you on the road. These are the front tires, so if something goes wrong, it could be a deadly crash for the driver and/or the car. Now they MIGHT be just fine, but why take the chance and try and save $250? Doesn't make sense to me.

+ 1, just because tires older than 5 yrs are being used safely on the road by some does not mean that it should be.

I agree, saving a few $ on the most important part of your vehicle is silly, to do it on a high performance vehicle is insane.

I didnt say he MIGHT be fine. I said he will be fine. There is absolutely nothing wrong with those tires. They will not cause any accidents or crashes. You can buy new tires if you like but they cost about 700 bucks or more and obviously that amount of money matters to him, else he wont be asking....I have burned through lot of those tires in this lifetime

Actually I think you may have answered your own question. Honestly, if you are at all concerned, no reason to take the risk. Now, not being the owner of your car, I'd also not advise taking the chance. (Sure, they might last, but then again, just seems strange to see those type of defects in the main tread areas let-alone what you'd typically see on sidewalls).

Take the safe route and replace them.

yeah didn't want to spend almost $1,000 on just front tires cause you have to get wheel balancing, sensors from other wheels etc etc but I did, too much of a risk, thanks all for the help I was a little streesed..

Front tires including balancing are $500. Given those are 50% worn already, that puts their value at $250. I'm sticking with what I've said, and the quotes of my advice from other experienced members of this forum. No offense, but I don't know where you're coming up with $700. That's rear tire prices. If you've ever had tires in that condition and "burned through lot of those tires in this lifetime" fine then more power to you. My life means more to me than $250.

Per the previous post, and my experience on lots of high performance/HP cars, I've never had tires that looked like that. I'd replace them or drive like a grandma.

Negotiate on the tires. Those are at most $500 a set or at most $600 including everything. They're 50% worn so that's cutting the cost in half. Sorry man, but I wouldn't want to drive on those much. They're bad tires. They're either old or badly heat cycled. Yes, they could be fine, but if it was me, I'd worry about driving on them every day. Tires are all that connects you and that fine car to the road. I'd like to have confidence in that one, most critical part of the car. I think the majority of other posters that have quoted me should convince you of that.

Maybe my 71 Pinto doesn't but that's not what I drive. I think most people can figure that out. I just don't post what I drive on here because I don't want to.
