Radar Detectors..whats your favorite?

Curious to know how people feel about the difference between these radar detectors:
Escort Passport cordless
Escort Passport (Latest one with GPS tech)
Valentine1

Also, has anyone had any experience with a hard wire install?

Pretty happy with the Escort Redline Hardwired; I like the spectral display and it is very sensitive (not overly); when it came down to it, the Escort was reviewed as more sensitive with better filtration than the Valentine - it also helped that they were giving a rebate for old radar detectors - so it was cheaper.

Had experience with the Escort's. The solo S2 is a piece of junk, that would be better served as a paper weight. The new escort 9500ix is a pretty sweet radar detector. I'd say it's right in line with the V1 if not a little more high tech. If you want the best of the best, go for the K40. Be prepared to drop a dime though!

9500ix or V1 - I have the Escort, works great - hardwire is very easy DIY and requires no mods to the car - Coochas did an excellent write up on teamspeed.

Unless they do it nearly free, it isn't worth it.

Check this out:

So glad I did mine myself - for many reasons - the least of them, cost.

More than a decade with hardwired V1. Ignore any claims by any other detector. Period.

Escort 9500ci

I went with the 9500ci and did the install myself. It was a ton of work but it has paid for itself three times over. It has fantastic dual horn radar detection along with laser shifting. They shoot LIDAR at you and you shoot back. Watched a motorcycle officer just stand there and look at his gun after he shot at me. The GPS auto-learn blocks out annoying door openers and the like and warns of speed traps and red light cameras. Its expensive and is not a project for everyone but I could not be more pleased.
