Bought demo, now CEL

2009 carrera with just over 15k miles. Car threw some code about bank 2 cam adjustment too slow and the other was something like implausible cam position relative to crankshaft. Car is now at dealer getting checked. Notably, just discovered dealer replaced both headers just before selling car.

Codes showed up within week of purchase. Any thoughts as to codes or why headers would have been bad on a 15k mile car?

Had a similar (?) problem with my 2009 C4S when new
From my post:
Got my car back last night and all appears to be well. Interesting and confusing problem, however. The original fault code was P1381 "valve adjustment one bank in wrong lift." The technician "pulled up the actual values for the short test results and found that bank one read OK and bank two read faulty." To make a long story short - as it was explained to me - the diagnostic software from Porsche for the new DFI engine had a problem. It took a few days to discover that the diagnostic software indicated "OK" when there was a fault and indicated "fault" when it was OK. So, although I did have a faulty valve control solenoid, they initially replaced the good one and left in the faulty one. Once this software glitch was discovered, the faulty solenoid was replaced and all ran well. The actual The service report is two pages of what they were doing after instructions from "PTECH" They apparently discovered the software problem after using a "NOID LIGHT" on each valve control solenoid while the engine was running to verify it was receiving the correct signal. That's when they discovered that the solenoid that was faulty read "OK" - and the one that read "OK" was faulty. The service writer said the tech was frustrated because he didn't speak German, and they spent a lot of time translating.

In other words, I had a faulty valve control solenoid and the Porsche diagnostic software for the then new DFI 3.8 had a glitch.

Hope this helps!

Good Luck!!
