I went through the very same search progression you did albeit six months ago. My 997 C2S Launch edition is a transition car - assuming I can find a (also rare but not so rare) local e55/e63 AMG wagon. Once I find the wagon, I'm going to sell my C2S or trade for a 993. I've always wanted an air cooled but wanted to try out the water cooled versions first. Good luck with your search.
