Porsche encourages stalkers
Has anyone seen the "Big Game" tab on the Porsche facebook site? They are encouraging people who are going to the Super Bowl to take pics of Porsches, post it, and check in with foursquare.
Anybody think this is a bit creepy- to have some stranger taking photos of your car and post it on the web? Just asking because I just saw it happen right outside my office this morning- some stranger taking a picture of my car. Won't people be able to know exactly where these cars are by checking in with foursquare?
BTW, anybody here going to the game? I am! Go Packers! I may take some pics if I do see some Porsches but I won't post them.

Yeah the whole Facebook "check in" thing is weird....perfect now people all over know you're not home. Plus the tain pictures of cars and license plates and checkin them in is weird too.
I totally agree with ya on this one, except for the team I want to win...GO STEELERS!

Ive gotten super
used to people taking pics of my lambo, never seen anyone take pics of my Porsche. I don't think it would bother me though. As long as people were not touching my car.
Better yet, maybe someone can explain the whole Facebook thing to me. I don't get it. Facebook people don't have real lives so they live vicariously in some kind of cyberworld ? As for the check in thing, what is that all about and what has that got to do with Porsches ? But wait, I haven't bothered to learn how to text message yet, I guess I'm not ready to understand Facebook. I know where my Porsche is though, in my garage, next to where my Doberman sleeps. More power to the check in crowd if they can get a picture of it on their IPhones without getting eaten by the dog.

Seems an odd publicity play coming from Porsche. I live in Dallas and the weather here right now is a mess, so I don't think this will be much of a problem as no one will likely have their cars out anyway.

There are many things I don't understand yet I can watch without judging. Computer Games seems strange but I wouldn't limit or dump on those that enjoy them. Watching the "X Games" where a snowmobile does a multiple flip ? Same response. The interest in 'others' lives is a normal condition; why was "Lost" such a big hit ? I watch Motor sports therefore I live through the experience of another driver doing something I can't yet wish I could. "Facebook" is not the BadGuy; it's a new form of communication. 20 Years ago we didn't have the NET and it has destroyed my world.

Two weeks later at 3AM the police came to my door . My car had been broken into .
They had pulled the radio , and popped the ignition .
Can't be sure the events were connected but it did leave me with doubts.
PS .. I also have no interest in Facebook .

Man, that's a stone I'm not ready to throw.
Surely I'm not the only one who see at least a slight bit of irony with that. Maybe it's my 1K posts vs half that...still...
Facebook on the other hand is more of a social thing . But it's not even an entirely real social event because as soon as someone turns off his computer he goes right back to his (or her) actual life .
In my opinion Facebook is the gray area of fantasy where either lonely people don't feel alone Or those bored in their relationships hope to find what they don't have. This is not a new concept . For decades women have read romance novels and men look at **** . Facebook just adds some level of real interraction to fantasy .
