SSK - All I can say is night and day!

I just got the short shift kit installed in my C4S and this is a MUST Mod. The first to 2nd shift is such a smoother shift now. I can't believe I waited 6 months to get this upgrade. If anyone is contemplating the SSK it is well worth the cost and should be a stock item.

I waited 6 months and should have done it on day 1. Go get it and you will thank me later.

There is a Porsche 20% off promo being run at all the dealers. The SSK is only $403 if you use it (not installed).

There is a winter promo. I think you can find it on sunset imports website or call them and they will send you the link. The promo ends March 31st.

I have a SSK that came off my 997.1 with 6K miles if anyone is interested. It was nice, but I had to switch to the standard shifter as I get tendinitis in my wrist. The throws of the standard shifter are a little less effort.

^ Concur with all. I waited about 6 months and then finally got around to ordering this. Had it installed by a local porsche tech ( to my boy Lutzo at LMN Motorsports).

I also got the OEM. I just felt more comfortable with the OEM, although B&M makes great products.

I love the smoothness of the original shifter will I lose that in the SSK? Other SSK kits I have tried on BMWs were very notchy and did not have a smooth feel to it.

Yes, in my experience, the SSK requires slightly more shifting effort and is notchier than the standard shifter. I like the smoothness of the standard shifter as well and so do my tendinitis prone wrists.

OEM SSK - first gear ?

What is the group's experience re: increased difficulty engaging first, particularly when fluids are not yet to temp. ?
