retro "911" emblem
retro "911" emblem
About six months ago, I found my Carrera S rear emblem was peeling off, so I replaced it with the black 911 from the 993. Now, that is even a factory option (as well as standard badging on the latest special additions). I'm a 50-something, so I grew up refering to all of the various evolutions as 911s. And...I was always at odds with Porsche handing out the Carrera title to the standard models. Are more people going this way? I think that it is a cool/cheap upgrade.

Agreed. I replaced the "chrome" "Carrera" script with a black 911 and have gotten nothinng but positive feedback.
I had a fella ask me about my '911' script at yesterday's Cars & Coffee in Raleigh. I know some don't like it, but I like the way it breaks up the massive amount of silver on a silver car.

What you're driving, from a historical perspective, is only a "Carrera" in the minds of the marketing department. The new GTS is more of a Carrera in the historical pecking order: standard --> S --> Carrera.

I like it but am torn between adding the "S" or not. My car is GT Silver so I would probably go with a black "911", although the chrome looks good, and maybe add a red "S" but the "911" looks so clean w/o it. I might just remove the "Carrera S" emblem for now and roll anonymous for a bit.
