2008 C2S - what would you pay ?
2008 C2S - what would you pay ?
So I drove an awesome C2S coupe yesterday...been eyeing it for a couple months now. To me, pretty big difference over my base C2. Didn't expect that. Sounds fantastic. They are asking $67995 - Certified. 11,687 miles. Immaculate condition, couldn't even find any rock chips on it. They have 2.9% finance rate on it too...hard to pass up.
Arctic silver metallic
heated seats
power seat package
6-spd manual
19" std Carrera S wheels
std black leather
Sport Chrono
PASM
3M bra on front bumper, 1/2 hood
tinted windows (sides, rear)
Bose
6-CD changer
colored crest wheelcaps
crest in headrests
I can't ignore this car...I love the silver color...and more hp. I know it's not the 385 hp...but wondering if I can put a plenum in this thing and wind up with 380 hp anyway.

I think these are one of those things where if it bothers you, you'll never feel "right" until you actually follow through. With the 991's just around the corner you might see even better deals if you can wait. For me having full leather was pretty important, don't know if that's something you'll miss (if you have full right now) or either you don't mind. I have a 2008 C2S MT and plan to keep it forever as it's my first porsche, the upgrade will be a nice change
Been shopping for 911's for a little while now. Best price I am seeing for CPO 2008's is high 50's with more miles (mileage in the 20's). I have seen C4S with 10-15K miles for 68K so you have some work to do. I have come across some 2009's for low 70's so I would not pay 68 for a 2008.
i think of all financially damaging moves to trade in 2008 C2 for 2008 C2S is a, well, probably the top one. but if you want it and can budget it in - why not? i would not do it, get at least 2009 car 6sp with DFI, new generation navigation, etc. price diff should not be that big compared to what they want for that 2008 c2s.
I agree about dumb financial move. Actually the payment wouldn't be much different (b/c I took a hit on the Boxster S I dumped for the 911). A slippery slope, I know. I can budget the C2S in, no problem, BUT I would be missing out on full leather, sports seats, new Nav, 385 hp, etc. I know I should wait, but question is, can I...

Also, you won't be able to increase the power to 385 with a plenum, chip, exhaust, or anything else, unless you add a supercharger or turbo. Don't forget, cars come on the market all the time (especially silver/black ones), and there should be some good deals when the 2012 comes out. You already have a nice car, why rush?

I agree gents. I am going to use the power of the new model's arrival to make people excited, then jump on a 2009, 2010, or 2011 when/if the time comes. Thanks for talking me down!!
Deal heat is hard to resist - good job.

That's interesting Steve. I refuse to pay sticker for this, especially with new 911 just around the corner. I'm thinking maybe $64k is the right price, tops. But to be honest, I want sport seats, full leather, red seat belts, nicer rims, ... plenum...I like the silver but I need to wait.
And FYI - the trade-in value they offered for mine is the 'fair' condition price from Edmunds...IMO my car is not in 'fair' condition. I feel like I would get a reasonably decent deal (especially with rates so low on CPO), but not sure it's necessary. I'd love a 385 hp machine and add a plenum or other intake to that.
Just curious what this statement is based on. Nobody has ever been able to prove that a plenum or exhaust upgrade makes any measurable difference in power. Other than the whole X51 package, high flow cats seem to be the only way to add any power, which is minimal, other than installing a supercharger or turbo.
