Another Black Lug Thread

Low Tech DIY

I too was looking at buying a set of black lugs when I bought my Black Oz wheels.

After searching I did the masking/ bolt through cardboard trick, which worked well until the first time I removed the bolts. The paint simply came off.

Recently I installed spacers (bought from RSS....Very nice) with their black bolts. I was happy to have some actual black bolts, until......

I used some commercial wheel cleaner. I know using this stuff really is not recommended but I wanted to give them a nice spring scrub.

Well, my new black bolts simply melted away to silver.

So, plan C is simple and so far seems to work well.

The sharpie is a great, multipurpose tool.

KK Moto, I'd like to get you a new set of black lugs amigo. I realize you used a chemical wheel cleaner which is not advised but I'll send you a new set of black lugs no charge. Mild soap and water is best to clean these babies. Contact me at your convenience and I'll send them out... Bryan

Great service Bryan.

Wheel Dynamics or Fast Forward Wheels should learn a lesson or two from you.

Keep up the great service - more people will continue to be patrons of upstanding businesses like yours and drop the bad ones.

Seriously? Very nice. Low cost but high return for you in terms of goodwill. I'm new (again) to the 911 world and as I add to my C2S will do my best to send you business.

Wow, nice offer guys but I meant the post with no ill-will. Frankly, I'm not convinced any method of creating a "black lug" short of ... geez I don't know if it's even possible.....could prevent it.

Bryan, the spacers are fantastic and I chose to use "Meguiers Wheel Cleaner" simply because I had some crud I had ignored during the winter.

The Sharpie worked great and I had been warned before to never use those commercial solvent-wheel cleaners.

I really appreciate your offer, kudos to your customer service, but frankly you guys cannot be responsible for every moron like me who used acid for cleaning.

Much appreciated, I'm still singing the praise of your spacers.

KK Moto,

Appreciate the comments.... and figured you meant no ill-will - just wanted to help you out.
I'm glad you are happy with the spacer kit and my offer still stands for a new set of black lugs no charge...
Thanks for your business.
