Oil Temp Fault Code

Just took the car for a quick spin after its long winter nap. Dash now says oil temp gauge faulty. I'm hoping this didn't happen because the old oil is still in the car.....couldn't resist the quick spin after staring at the thing for 6mths. Anyone know if the old oil would do this and whether an oil change is all that's needed?.....I'm planning on doing an oil change myself this weekend using the LN kit. Thxs in advance.

This happened to me earlier this year. A short while later, I got a oil level sensor failure. Then a little after, the CEL. Took it to the dealer and mice had chewed through the wiring loom that sends the signals from the sensors. No, CPO does not cover rodents. $50 in parts and $750 in labour!
