thinking of rejoining the 911 family
thinking of rejoining the 911 family
hey guys,
so with summer on the way and after going through 3 cars in the last 12 months ( 911s, R8, and boxster s - i know i go through them fast - but my wife is making me keep the next one for at least a year) i am without a toy and getting the itch....i was thinking of a vantage but after much research i just don't think i can face the potential lack of reliability - so its back to the 911
i am heading out to take a look at some 911's today - anyone know what deals porsche has on the table? on leftover 2010's i know they have some money out on the table - just not how much. Are they offering anything on the 2011's?
any help is appreciated.

I had 3 911's and 3 Boxsters. The vantage is every bit as reliable. My issues have been simple like the gas lid release and a chirping belt. If you get an 09 or newer the Vantages have very little in the way of trouble. Having said that I just bought my wife a Boxster S and was looking at 911's during the process. The deals depend on the time that the dealership has had the car and what you're looking at. There are great deals on 2010's. I think you an expect 10-15K off of a 2010. Champion porsche has a white C4S coupe with Coco that is really sharp that they will sell for a deal. Don't be afraid of the Vantage though, there are some great deals out there on those. I know some people on the Aston forum have done well on some dealer inventory cars.
Pdk Turbo S .
Based on the cars in your list it sounds as though you enjoy some luxury (and reliability) yet the only thing you haven't had in any of the cars is high Hp.
As for "deals" . The used cars are priced high and if a dealership has a 2010 car they own it. They would have to knock 35 percent off to even get a pulse from me if i was a buying and they just aren't going to do it . Even if they are .. I would have doubts about the car . After all it did sit there for two years unsold with who knows how many people looked at it and passed it up.
Also (again my opinion) .. if one tries to make a deal on a 105K car it's easier to see him walk than if he walks on a 180K car . Keep in mind most turbo shoppers tend not to bargain shop so my guess is you can try for 8 percent off .
The hardest part to figure out is how someone can buy three cars in less than a year and think that anything he buys at this point is a "deal ". The loss on each car gets indirectly added to the new car so my feeling is that your wife is 100 percent correct that this car has to be a keeper . That's why the Turbo S PDK sounds so good .
PS. If the Turbo S is priced too high then a used 997.1tt CPO with a decent exhaust and software (stage 1- late to the turbo party - keep the cost low --mods) will cost as much as that 2010 997s and (in my opinion) it's the better car and better value.

yup - i know going through cars like i do i never really get a "deal" at the end of the day i almost always take a loss ( with a few exceptions)
yes - i do prefer a new car - got screwed once years ago on a used car - never want it to happen again.
i ended up at the dealer yesterday and it looks like they are willing to drop about 20% off a 2010 - not bad - i'll let you guys know if i pull the trigger.
