Here's my thread on the install...

I was told by a dealer tech/service manager @ Newport Beach Porsche that changing out the headers to less restrictive headers would improve performance of an S. They told me the headers probably wouldn't change the performance in my base C2.

Like most things mechanical, you can change things to obtain a different overall look and feel, and experience. It can turn out bad, it can turn out good - its all a journey and can be sometimes very rewarding.

Doesn't matter if its NA or turbo - it is very enjoyable, if you can afford it.

No disrespect, but I cannot understand your reason for thinking this way. Buying one thing once from the dealer, almost regardless of price, doesn't mean its untouchable for the remainder of civilization and existence.

I do however, feel saving money is also important, so I side with you there.

Cheers.

Sorry, can't be there tomorrow. Let me know when the next one is. I don't normally go. I did post a video of the sound. I put my iPhone under my parked car and video taped this.....

Awe

Have AWE Cats, Exhaust and tips with a fab speed cold air intake. on 997s. amazing sound, way more responsive, and nice HP increase.
No complaints, unless you don't like to hear your car.

Wow very cool. So you kept the stock headers and still got desirable results, right?

Just installed new IPD Plenum

Have 2006 C2S 3.8L TipTronic

Just had IPD put in a new plenum for it (this is my first mod), and after 100 miles I can see noticeable difference. (needed to be broken in with ferocity)

Without the Sport Mode button on, it drives like it did previous to the plenum, with the Sport button on. Now with the plenum, pressing SPort mode button results in a much more efficient, responsive system. I haven't noticed any serious increase in HP; what I've noticed is overall system efficiency, including better throttle response and paddle shifting.

Bottom line, is driving now with the Sport Mode button pressed, is a much more noticeably awesome and efficient experience.

Friday I called AWE and ordered my hi-flow cats, mufflers, and tips. Its a 2 month wait, approx.

I called Sunset and ordered the X51 headers with gaskets, etc.

Once all of it is installed I'll come and post the results. (from driver experience, not dyno. This aint a turbo, I dont care about spending money on dyno)

The last things I do, at the very tail end, will be maybe a cold-air intake, but definitely the EVOMS ecu flast.

cheers.
