Rms, ugh.

You'll never get to Step 12 without getting through Step 1.
Seriously though you seem unwilling to accept opinions that contrast with your it will be fine; all cars do this mentality; which is fine, it's your car. Even if you choose to keep the car forever it will get worse, even if it's a drop every month for the first few years.
The point of my ribbing is that it is a known problem and it is still under warranty. Yet you're defending a position to do nothing because you don't want to bothered with having a Porsche dealer fix it. I don't get it. Importantly for you, I don't have to.

It's about $2,000 give or take if you pay out of your own pocket to fix it, I don't know about you but I sure don't want to spend that, I rather spend that on vacation or something else. I had mine fixed recently, it's a known problem, it's more common than you think, how many RMS threads do we have? Too many to count. It doesn't cost you anything and since you drive your car once a week, you will not miss it either it takes a full day to repair. I really don't understand the hesitation. Yes it's not a big problem but it's still a problem.
Actually, I'm not defending anything. I wanted to put all my thoughts down on the subject and get some input. At this point, I'll probably go ahead and get it fixed. I posted, clearly, the reasons why I hesitate. If you can't get, or don't understand those reasons...what can I tell you. We all live different lives and have had different experiences that shape the way we view any given situation. Like I said, I've had cars, and other things, damaged during "repair". If you can't empathize and understand that prior bad experiences would give a person pause, whatever, I don't know what else to say. I'm not being argumentative, and I hope it doesn't come across this way. I appreciate the constructive feedback from everyone here...

I'm not sure I get it. You have it under warranty. Get it changed, it won't get any better. They won't wreck anything else. Don't believe everthing anyone tells you. On the 997.1 it is still a prevelant issue.
We've had posts asking what to do if the car gets wet and if you should floor the accelerator. This one is right up there. Sorry but I've never heard such claptrap. "I had a bad experience once" Boo hoo. Get your car fixed under warranty. It will get worse. This is a no brainer. Really. While the tranny is down they can inspect the clutch and eye the IMS bearing. At your mileage there should be no issues with either unless you messed up the clutch. Consider this an intervention and MAN UP!

That sounds horrible.. hope you get this sorted out, or, this turns out to me a minor problem for you. I somewhat see the truth to your statement that cars driven more frequently are less prone to RMS leaks... I drive my car fairly often and like you said, no leaks whatsoever at 23K in two years....
fingers crossed though

Just another case of why these cars need to be driven regularly. They are engineered and designed to be driven, and driven hard.
All seals need to be broken into a system and lubricated properly, as are many things in the engine, depending on manufacturing tolerances. The best way to avoid issues is to drive these cars a solid 7000 miles per year.
