Seeking Quick Advice on 2007 C4S
I'm considering the purchase of a 2007 Porsche C4S from a Porsche dealer about 90 miles from my hometown. The dealer said it's a two-owner car with 8XXX miles, that originally came from California. He sent me a ton of pictures, carfax, and all service records. Based on the pictures, the car appears to have a flawless exterior/interior. It's the color I'm looking for (silver) with a black leather interior, 6-speed manual.....asking price is $69K. I'm driving to the dealer over the weekend to see it in person and go for a test drive.
I haven't owned a 911 in 25 years......so I would appreciate any feedback as to things I should be looking for on this car with regard to service, warranties, price, etc. Thanks in advance to the very informed people on this site

I owned a 2007 C4S with 12,000 miles and it was a cabriolet which I sold privately for around that price and it was extemely well optioned (full leather, Nav, Bose, Power Seats, Heated seats, turbo wheels, sport chrono, and more). I think the price might be a bit high if it is not CPO and a coupe. I would make sure the 4 year service has been done and the tires are new. If not, then you are looking at $2K for tires and around $1K for the service (and that won't include plugs which are to be changed at 4 years, but may not be totally necessary given the low mileage). Also, look for any remaining factory warranty. There might be some on it depending on the in-service date. I would price this (depending on the options) in the mid $60's, but a little higher with CPO.
Good luck with it. You will love the car in any case. I like the wider butt on the 4 models.

tons of info on this website -- search is your friend.
probably the most important thing is a prepurchase inspection (PPI) by either a (different) porsche mechanic or trusted indy if another dealer is not feasible. make sure to ask for DME scan (for overrevs) and have them go over every panel with a paint meter to check for body work. carfax isn't 100% reliable.
one more thing -- don't compromise if there's something materially wrong. these cars are an absolute pleasure but they're not that rare. there's always another one (especially if you search nationally) around the corner. best of luck and keep up posted... with pics, of course

Attach a link to the car and we can take a look at the pictures to see what is on this car. That would help a bit. KonaKai is right about the PPI and DME scan. Check for any overevs above stage 2. Stage 3 and 4 is of concern and 5-6 is bad news. This can happen on missing a downshift into a lower gear. I passed on a car that had some overrevs.
I actually think the price is high. I bought a 2007 C4S with 14,xxx miles last February (2010) for $66.5K. It was CPO'd and has a very nice option list with most of the things you'd want (full leather, Nav, Carbon trim, Sport Chrono, etc). The dealer was asking $69K at the time. I've heard prices have stabalized a little since then, but would have expected it to be $60ish.
As others have said, do the PPI and DME check first. I'd also want to know why the dealer isn't CPO'ing it, assuming its a Porsche dealer.
Good luck, and don't compromise on what you want. It may take a while, but the perfect car is out there.
Dave.

good point. if it's past 4 years from the original delivery date, that's your answer. if it's not, and they won't do it (for $2k extra, though that's negotiable too) then run don't walk out of there. Even if they won't bargain on the CPO, I think it's well worth $2K on a car of this age and limited remaining original warranty.

if u r getting it from a Pdealer, it should be CPOed.
get a PPI and a DME report (although with only 8k miles, it prob wasn't driven..)
do a visual to make sure it hasn't been in an accident.
If u like it, negotiate to 60k.
if u really like it, pay up to 63k.
FYI, i bought my 07 CPO C2S cab with all premium options and 14k miles for $64.5k.. over a year ago..

I agree with everyone else, $69K is way overpriced, if you pay that, the dealer will be laughing all the way to the bank. I would not buy a used Porsche w/o CPO, especially a low mileage one as they are known for RMS and transmission leaks.

Well -- I received a negative rep on this thread after I posted an opinion on what i think this car is worth .
The comment I received revealed what I view as immature response so I refuse to waste my time any further on this thread.
