I Just Couldn't Resist
One of the things I enjoy most about this forum is being able to share our "feel good" stories.
Anyway, a few weeks ago, I was at the dealer just to have my '10 C2S Cab washed. They had on display this beautiful wheel. Looked like it had been hand carved out of a block of precious metal. Turns out it was an HRE 597R, with a polished rim and brushed center. It was love at first sight.
I'm not normally impulsive, but I decided right then that I had to have a set for my car. They would replace my Sport Design wheels. Then I decided that I would get wider "sport size" wheels, 8.5 and 11.5. After that, I decided that I would get new 305/30 Michelin PS2's for the new rear wheels (instead of 295/30, and kept the 235/35's for the front).
Lastly, I decided to get the HRE Porsche center caps (OME Porsche caps don't fit). The TPMS was unaffected, and simply re-installed.
While I impulsively spent a small fortune (and have a very understanding wife), I couldn't be happier with the results.

very nice wheels. 8.5/11.5 rims will take 245/305 tires by default, or even 245/315 depending of a tire brand.
255 in front would want 9" rim but may fit on 8.5" also, but not sure if it will give much of a benefit. I like widest front tires possible to reduce understeer to the possible minimum but if it`s too big on a rim it may produce negative effect so it depends of what kind of tire you use.
