CGT #'s are :
Mar. '05, 35 vs. 5 in Mar. '04. Yr. to date '05, 73 vs. '04, 9.
Looks like the US exchange rate might have something to do with these numbers.

Interesting, they sold more standard 997 than 997S, and the cabs look to be a hot item.

BTW, stopped by Walters Porsche Sunday, they had an 05 GT2, MSRP $199,950, and an 04 GT3 discounted about $14.000, and several 04 996s with discounts from about $7,000-$12,000, also had 4 or 5 997s, a couple of S's and an artic silver cab, the Guards red 997 was stunning.
If you are looking for an 04 996, check it out.

why's that (ie: looks like exchange rate...)? there were hardly any CGTs coming to the US in Q1 solely because production had just started and they weren't able to make as many daily as they do know

PAG is stopping production after '05 model year on the CGT because of low demand. When production stops they will not have made the 1500 they planned on. So the global collectors are buying the US models at favorable exchange rates.

i've heard this from several porsche (PCNA) reps. the production stop for US models is an air bag certification issue prohibiting them from making '06s for the US. i've not heard anything about a global ceasation of production though - just the US.

btw, my previous comment/question was to just state increased sold #s in Q1/05 are simply because the CGT was just barely even trickling into the US in Q1/04. US production had just started and it had nothing to do with the exchange rate.
