EJ-997 is infamous around these parts
Same thing happened to me. I pulled the nail out with pliers and it started to leak air so I pushed the nail back in and drove to a tire store. They patched it. The patch lasted about a year when I replaced all tires.

If there's a Discount Tire store near you, they often will patch a tire for free even if you didn't buy it from there. They are hoping the good will would cause you to come back and get your next tires there.

Unless the nail is very close to the sidewall, simply bring it to a decent shop to remove the nail and plug it. Should be fine.
