Car wash question

My 911 has never been to the car wash. I hand wash it every couple weeks. The paint is still perfect.

The novelty of spending a hours+ washing the car has worn off and I'm thinking of going the traditional car wash route. I plan to keep the car a very long time.

Bad idea?

True

True....guess I was hoping for validation that time spent with the sponge is not worth time saved at the wash. Thx

Try Optimum No Rinse. It saves quite a bit of time and works well.

u serious ??

its a terrible idea !

BTW.. with ur stock rims, it should only take u 30 minutes to wash (outside, rims, windows in & out, quick wipe down of interior, etc) ur cabriolet.. the wash area is so tiny!

then do ur 3-hour wash job (vacumn, complete interior, tire, etc) perhaps every third wash..

and complete detail (clay, polish, wax, etc) twice a year.

You talking to me? How many cars have you actually washed to make that statement? I owned a detailing business when I was younger and I can assure you that ONR is NOT a bad idea if you know what you are doing. How about doing some research before you make a stupid f-ing comment..

I read that as if he was saying the CARWASH is a bad idea, not the ONR. I have been looking forward to trying ONR myself. I think I will now that spring/summer is upon us.

I avoid the carwash in my 911 as well. I have found that the chemicals around here in the touchless washes leave a nasty residue on the windows that can make it hard to see out when it rains, and it is a pain to clean off.

Sorry for the attack, I misunderstood your comment. I have so many yahoos talking about ONR and how it is a bad idea. I am the worst skeptic ever and this stuff works wonders. I have a GT-R as well and it may be the softest paint on the planet and ONR works wonders. It would be a good option for your CA guys with potential water restrictions. One thing I will add though.. I have a pump sprayer with ONR in it. When I am washing wheels or a dirty panel I pre-treat with the pump sprayer. Stuff is really cool and shines very well.

Talk to you soon,

Another vote for ONR. I use it 3 out of every 4 washes. Not having to hose doen the car really saves some time.

I retracted the statement above. You are not using any quotes in most of your messages so I jumped on you in error, my apologies.

Why not just let it go? I apologized and you continue to make an issue out of it. Sometimes I wonder why I drive a Porsche with ***** like you making up the majority.. You can highlight that and put balloons around it if you want.

All due respect sir, you seem to have some issues. I am new here and from the looks of it you are too. It was clear to me that he wasn't commenting on your post. Even if he was talking to you it was just his opinion. Maybe you should have just let it go. This forum doesn't need comments such as yours even if apologies follow. Count to 3 before you start to post a comment next time your think your being attacked. Its all good....relax.
