Hi Guys,
I am from the 911UK forum.
These tail lights are made by DEPO - Part number D48-1901P-AE-CR. Page 629 of their latest catalogue. We also found ones similar to Rottec.

Depo are in Taipae Taiwan. The deal at present is that Dectane have sole distribution rights in Europe and I assume there is a similar deal with a US disty as well. From 2012 this will be relaxed so pricing will become more aggressive. Please note that if purchasing from Europe you will be paying for import taxes into Europe and then again into the US.
There are 32 pages of postings but worth a read if you are looking for a more cost effective route. Best price we were quoted for 10 off direct from Taiwan was USD439 from Lumen Automotive Company plus shipping.

Good info. I think I'm going to wait, just bc I have other commitment$ at this time, but it's good to know that these will only get less expensive. I'm thinking that this is a great option for ~$500-600, and I really like the look of these lights.

I did set up a customer profile with Dectane and I had the item in my cart and was all set to hit 'go' on the order, so I think they would ship to the US. They say they'll ship worldwide, so maybe it's a glitch in their ordering system vs their agreement on this specific item. Who knows, maybe they would have cancelled the order before it was sent.

Is anyone willing to set up a group buy for this product shipped to the US. <$500 for OEM quality LED tails is a great deal!

Dectane will not ship to the US - multiple posts about accepted orders, credit cards charged and then cancellation notice and refund all handled very nicely via their website. This was my experience.

these look a lot better than the Rotec ones. Much closer to OEM.

Like I said before the pricing is out of line, probably because them being the first to make such LED aftermarket lights for 997.1. Look at all other DEPO lights being sold for other cars, they are going for no more than $200 a pair, some are much bigger (for SUV's) with more LED's than the 997 unit.

Price has to come down when demand tapers off...

More Chevys and Fords than P-cars too so demand and volume have a lot to do with the pricing

Perhaps a dumb question, but just want to confirm that C2S and C4S tail lights share the same fitment? Wasn't sure because of the wider hips on the C4S

You get what you pay for. This is very very high quality. it looks and feels like oem. the fitment is oem. its plug and play and no warnings. the light is just as bright as oem 2. led. i wouldnt buy lights for my porsche for 200dollars... I just dont get why so many a complaining about the price. You can buy wing and wheels for ten thousands of dollars but not these lights that makes the car look more modern and alot better? just my 2cent

If these are made by DEPO, then they are good quality, comparable to OEM's. If you take a look at the DEPO lights made for say Honda or Toyota, they are also every bit as good. So if they are the same quality, what justify the 2x-3x price difference? I'd pay that much if they came from Porsche, but they are not.

I guess jhbrennan's right about volume, otherwise it will be like what sideWays_swe says, "if they can spend ten thousands buying wheels and wings, surely they won't mind if we jack up the price..."
