Heavy clutch pedal

Need advice on my suddenly heavy clutch pedal. After a brief stop at the supermarket, I noticed the clutch pedal was noticeably heavy when I depressed it to start the car. The heavy pedal stayed that way all the way home. No problem shifting gears and the clutch take-up point is unchanged. The only difference is that it takes 10 to 20 more pounds of force to push the pedal in. It's a 997.1 C2S. Anyone had this happen?

996-Sam is infamous around these parts
Could be a broken clutch paddle spring (the spring helps push the paddle inwards). I read about it on rennlist and the post was for a 996, but your 997.1 probably has a similar design. Should be easy to replace if this is indeed the problem.

one piece of advice - even tho it's not exactly causing probs now, get it fixed asap. as you know, little things can lead to/cause bigger issues in no time on these cars...

996-Sam, thanks. You might be right about the spring. I wasn't sure at the time but I thought I felt a slight thud when I depressed the clutch to start the engine the first time the hard pedal happened. A broken spring would be highly preferable to an Accumulator that needs replacing (which is another suspect). Unfortunately, I can't check it out until this weekend. I appreciate your advice.

I'm willing to bet that's it's the Slave Cylinder ... it's what deliveries the hydraulic pressure to both your clutch peddle and your brake peddle. If one fails, it's possible the other will too. I know because it happened to me ... Get it checked out ASAP. Last thing you'll want is to be stranded because your breaks went out on you or your clutch peddle drops to the floor and won't come back up.
