on your 2010 C2S (DFI), the sound/loudness seems completely reasonable (although hard to tell from a video). It looks like the Sharkwerks muffler bypass is for the MIDDLE muffler but retains the side cans. Nice!
I just put a bypass pipe (fabspeed type) on my 2005 C2S (to replace the side cans) and the sound is VERY loud with a noticeable drone. (IDLE is ok, but who cares about IDLE).
I'll be pulling these off and putting the gundo hack cans back on.

Even noticed a little more pep I think - will confirm after driving it for a few days...
Easy to install - took me just over an hour to do myself...
I love it - thanks to Dan at Sharkwerks - a pleasure to deal with.

Cheers and thanks for posting this up! Glad you like the exhaust, we just installed one on another PSE-equipped car today and you're right -- it's a much more aggressive sound, it's definitely a noticeable change and we were very happy with the results. Here's a write-up about the GTS we installed it on, along with an 09 Targa:

We never noticed any drone or resonance on our 09 Carrera S, it's still quite reasonable volume-wise inside, it's only when you wind it out and/or roll the windows down that you'll remember you installed an aftermarket system. Other than that it's quite docile still like the stock system.

If you think you would leave the PSE on all the time, it's a nice alternative to buying the complete system IMO -- the exhaust we make will make the non-option system sound a lot like the PSE with the Sport button on though.

The benefit of the PSE system (which our part is compatible with either, PSE or non) is that you can turn it up even louder if you want -- the PSE or SW+standard system is still a bit tame by aftermarket exhaust standards.

The tools required are fairly standard, if you send me an email (dan@sharkwerks.com) I can send the instructions so you can see what's involved.

Thanks Jimny, glad you like it too!

The 997.2 is notoriously quiet, people compare it to a sewing machine with the stock exhaust.

Just wondering if there is much difference between Sharkwerks and Fabspeed ? My local mechanic uses Fabspeed ?

No issues with shipping (except I missed UPS the first time they showed up - and I had to wait an extra day), and none with duties.

Overall a fun experience...
Thanks for the info. I'm surprised UPS did not charge you duties and brokerage fees. They usually do when I get something via UPS.
Anyway, thanks again and enjoy your ride for the summer. Who knows maybe I'll see you around. I'll definitely recognize your exhaust sound.

To clarify - I did have to pay duties/taxes when I picked up the package. I just meant it was easy as pie to get it - no hold-ups at the border, no funny questions when I picked it up, etc. (which has happened in the past with other automotive parts).

If you are around, come by the Yorkville Exotic Car Show in Toronto tomorrow, my car will be there but will hardly be noticed with all the other beautiful cars in attendance. There is also a meet Saturday mornings (11ish) behind Sherway in the back parking lot of the Chapters that's across the street - going to check it out and grab a coffee this morning...

So is your bypass system give the same sound on a 997.2? I have been thinking of getting a better sound but I want to make sure that I don't get drone at speed. Trying to understand my options....this one maybe a good option.

The system is the same one indeed:
http://www.sharkwerks.com/products.php?pid=193

There's no resonance/drone or anything like that since it would still use the side mufflers. I had one on my daily driver 09 car

Just wanted to add my 2 cents...

The Aqua blue cab is my car. The best way to explain is with the center bypass the PSE sounds like I think it "should" (which is subjective). Very nice sound, off throttle pretty quiet, on throttle great sound, no drone and not so loud that it annoys folks. I use PSE on with the center bypass in my neighborhood without anyone seeming to care (might not after midnight though to be considerate). With PSE off the car sounds pretty close to stock. Over a great mod to change the exhaust sound seems to work well with PSE and PDK (no drone that I have heard top up or down).

I don't have PSE though....how does that change the sound? Also, I like the power improvement....are those measurements the on the same car? I imagine this is also better for gas mileage (not that I care but its a good excuse with my wife when I tell her I am spending more money on the car ;-) )

Thanks for the suggestion. Sounds interesting. But unfortunately I'm packed this weekend.

Those are on our car which did not have PSE correct The sound change is nice and subtle. No resonance/drone etc... I'm not sure I could say it's better for gas mileage although the light load tuning for freeway etc... that does work

I believe the Fabspeed 2009+ bypass will use an X-pipe (merge collector for the two sides) rather than independent tubes that do not intersect gases. We tried this design on our 09 Carrera but did not stick with it because it was not a big enough change from stock. It sounded to us very much like the original center muffler. I have also not dynoed this type of design.

So the bypass is only available for 997.2? What about 997.1?

That's correct since it's a different engine with 3 mufflers vs 2 on yours. For your car we use either the tubi or cargraphic.
