Tampa independent mechanics

Any independent mechanics in Tampa that the forum would recommend for servicing a 997 Carrera? Would like to avoid having to take it to Reeves if I don't have to...

Thanks for the reference Mike. Assume Vortex does quality work? Certainly they are favorable on their service pricing $1k for left radiator fan, oil change, cabin filter, serpentine belt and brake fluid flush vs. $2k down in West Palm...

C2 Design in Tampa is top notch. Give them a call and see what they can do for you. Go to www.C2DUSA.com. Also check out the cars they have done on their site. That should say enough about their quality of work.

Great looking cars, but looking more for something for simple service items vs. major upgrades...

I have an indie guy in Tamp/Riverview area that can do most any upgrade at a great price. Top notch work. He installed my headers, springs, and exhaust.

Any recommendations on having someone hardwire a Beltronics radar detector? I heard Jay at Sound Designs (via Vortex) but I haven't actually been able to get a hold of the guy...also, any guess on price to do this?

Man... you need to grab a couple of screwdrivers and start tearing into that dash, with two helpers it should only take a few hours!

You can give boulevard customs a call on the install. They specialize in car stereo and wheels, but I am sure they are up to the task. I have never had any work done by them personally, but I know people who have. They are located right over by the dupont builidng in St. Pete (right over the bridge).

Is the beltronics just a standard suction cup mount detector, or are their other remote sensors? If it is just a matter of bypassing the cigarette lighter and hardwiring price should not be too horrendous, are you wanting to go high on the windshield or low on the dash? I would estimate $100 - $150 maybe...

That is really an easy DIY job. I installed my V1 in 20-30 min. The fuse panel on the driver's side left kick panel and you can hide the wire all the way to the bottom center of your windshield or up the a-pillar and across to the top center of the windshield.

My local Tampa guy can do it for you no problem though.

We can and do anything at C2. We have the training, experience and resources to get the job done and done right.. From minor to major upgrades using quality AWE parts, regular oil service to full 30,60,90k.. Clutch replacement, brakes, air conditioning, suspension bushings.
As far as radar systems go I regularly install k40 RL360 and Rl200 systems, hardwiring any external is relatively minor.

You dont have to believe what people are telling you, just stop in and we will show you..

Mike, an old post, but wondered if you have a recommendation for a shop in Tampa now that Vortex has changed owners?

Thanks!
