Cost to repair a Rock in my Radiator ?
Rolling down I-45
And a cement truck is pelting other vehicles with rocks.
I take my normal evasive action under this type of condition.
Slow way down, pull to the far lane and tuck in behind another vehicle.
(Sometimes I will pull completely off the road)
I see other drives getting hit with rocks, wondering when is this WAC pulling over. He finely does.
Ah … I escaped another chipped window or hood.
But WAIT … as I pull into my drive way steam is coming out of my wheel well.
BLAST …. I see the steam blowing from my radiator “Plus the ROCK is sitting next to the hole”
Temp was fine, so no over heating.
1. How much am I looking at for a repair from the dealership?
2. Could they also add some screens at the same time?

I think you will have to buy a new radiator. I believe they are in the $250 - $300 range. Since you will have to take the nose off to make the repair it is a good time to add grilles.

that's correct. dealer will not repair any parts. they only do replacement.
i cant believe radiator is only 300 in parts. they should be much more. if it's only 300, definitely have it replaced. labor should be 2-3 hrs, so another 300-400.
there are shops that specialize on radiator repairs. yours will certainly be a good candidate. i did read on the forums that someone did try the repair route and eventually had to replace it. cooling system is pressurized so any weak point will cause leak, no fun.

Temp gauge never goes above 175 regardless of coolant temp.
As for cost, get the radiator from Suncoast Porsche. Will be lower than your local dealer. Then put it in yourself for free or take it to a good Indy shop and have them do it. This is not a difficult R & R. Hardest part is getting all the air out of the cooling system.

Pelican has the radiator for $238. Figure 3-4 hours for the install. Add maybe an hour if you decide to add grilles. Porsche of the Village in Cincinnati did my third radiator install with grilles and I was very happy with the work.

Guess I should have said mine has never moved even incrementally regardless of oil temp, ambient temp or driving conditions. ( I don't track the car so I have no idea what the gauge might show in those conditions.) Nor have I heard of anyone registering a higher temp on the stock gauge. What kind of " large step " are you talking about so both I and the OP will know what temp his coolant may have reached with it registering on the coolant temp gauge ?

it looks like the rock hit my A/C condenser coil that's in front of the radiator (right side)
This might be why my temp didn't spike and radiator water level stayed the same.
Lets see how much this little adventure cost and how long the repair takes.
