C2S or GTS....need advice on these two
C2S or GTS....need advice on these two
Okay folks, I've been hunting, and researching and took a few test drives on most of the 911's, them all being Cabs.
I've actually narrowed down my search to two specific cars. The GTS or the C2S. Both cars are amazing and seem to be what I'm after. However, I have a few dilemmas.
I like to play with my cars and modify them. Previously, I had a highly built RX7 and then an NSX. Anyway, heres where I'm at and need some help.
The C2S is fast, very fast, and handles well. It isnt as fast as the GTS but still felt really close. It doesn't have the widebody which I really like.
The GTS is faster, and has trick centerlock wheels. However, since I like to mod my cars, I would probably want to change them down the road. Does anyone forsee a problem with limited choices and/or costs?
The GTS also has sideskirts which I like but think I might prefer a more aggressive front spoiler. So, the C2S that doesn't have one might make sense.
Anyway, I'm looking at both cars to be manual, and don't need alot of the bells and whistles that you find on most dealer lots. So, I will probably order one and build it exactly how I desire. Problem is, which one? Anyone have any thoughts on my concerns.
Thanks
Tone

All things considered I'd go GTS in a heartbeat. I think it will become a 'classic' and more desirable as time goes on. The hips and power plus the interior treatment make it a winner.
As for mods unless you plan to track the GTS it's certainly capable on the streets/highways and certainly has a more 'track car' look than a normal C2S.
GL!

I was looking on the porsche configure tool yesterday and started out with a C2S but by the time I got a few options installed I was at the same price as the GTS which had all of them and more as well as the X51. It's a pretty nice deal for what it is.
GTS!! 408HP, PSE, Wide azz, 2WD, what's not to like. I have a C2S and it's amazing. But the GTS, is just a bit better and is specced to what I would have ordered. I know you after a cab but I would have gotten SPASM and LSD.
If you are going to order one, just order the GTS with the Carrera Sport Wheels instead of the center-lock ones. It's a no-cost option. (how many of those does Porsche offer?) LOL
Then you get the wide body you want, the added hp, and normal wheels. Right now there are very few choices for aftermarket center-lock wheels and none are inexpensive.

The only ones I know are those that are actually downgrades, like the "option" to get sport seats instead of sport buckets in the Cayman R.
Wow, thanks for the quick and great advice. I never knew I could get normal 5 lugs on the GTS. I will have to ask my dealer about that.
If that is the case then I think my answers are solid. GTS!

IMHO we're too close to the 991 release to be spec'ing a new 997 no matter what the variety. Was at the dealer yesterday and he said he expects them on his floor by December. (I assume that only the coupes are released initially, but how far behind can the cabs be?)
The way I see it, even if Porsche manages to get the 991 wrong, you'll still have an influx of 997 supply come to the CPO market, and odds will also be pretty decent that you will be able to locate a new GTS and make a deal on it.

Don't feel bad - on Thursday it took me five minutes to convince an "very experienced" (his words) salesman at an Indiana dealership that I did not want center lock and that the regular were available.
That's the problem with anyone, including salespeople (!), using just the Porsche configurator.

Yeah, that's all true and believe me I've weighed those options. However, I know for a fact I don't want the first year of a new model. Just a personal choice. So, it would be quite sometime before I would be in the 991.
Also, I've looked and looked and for what I'm looking for you're not gonna find on a lot. As mentioned, most come with nav, heated sereats, stuff like that. I do not need those features.
I understand I could easily wait and hope to scarf up a killer deal, but I would probably be settling. And for me, with how long I've waited to get into a brand new Porsche, I don't feel I should "settle" for anything.

GTS -- When Porsche tests the x51 and makes Hp claims its based such a variety of climate and conditions . It's a beautiful package and of course a C2S is a great car too but of the two GTS FTW.
