05 911, 40k miles..are new spark plugs needed?

i was told spark plugs should be changed at 40k miles or 6 years from 1 source and at 60k miles from another. Please help. i have a non turbo 911.

It is either 60K 0r 4 years. Mine is 5 years and nearing 40K, and I will have it done. Independent shops typically charge around $310 including parts.

This is maintenance that won't hurt your car, I did them last August at about the 4 year mark. I didn't notice any difference in milage or performance, but better to have it done before it is needed then when they are needed.

Porsche recommends 60K miles or every 4 years for a non-Turbo. Might want to examime the coil packs for cracks as long as you're doing plugs.

you can use durametric to see counts of misfires you get, also look at engine roughtness parameter. overall, at 50K it is worth to change both spark plugs and all coils. probably coils are even more important part to change than plugs but better do both

If that car is going to be a piece of art, at least paint the walls in the garage

Sharky put some great pictures on the Turbo board ( a few years ago) on a highly modded 997tt that had to be replaced at only 15 k miles . I can't find the post.
Another member bought a stock Turbo and decided to change them on his own at 22K miles when he bought the car and they looked like new .

I think with these cars a lot depends on what type of mods are on them as well how they have been driven . even climate and enviornmental conditions may play a role . Porsche only makes recommendation for a general idea .

Hope this helps.
