I like the post with the 8pin adaptor, I did this in my BMW, it was a poor man's fix, but I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars. I am worried about taking apart my dash, those broken clips are a B*$TH!

I am not sure about pre-2007 997 radios. But......

I bought a similar unit from Ebay and the vendor is from England. Well, after having spent about $30.00, I emailed the vendor. When I told him that my car is a 2007, he said that the unit will not work on my unit and they don't make one for PCM 2.0.

I am sure it has been discussed before, but FYI, Becker will be able to add an aux input on PCM2.0 for $100.00.

I am unfamiliar with Becker. Who are they and how does this work? Do you have to be local?

Thank you.

I just did this wire from e bay on my 996 turbo. It allows you to connect any device that has a 3.5mm mini jack output.

The head unit needs to be pulled firward. First you need to unclip the plastic facia surround that houses the buttons around the head unit. The curved bit. Push it down on top and pull forwards. Then you get access to 2 spring clips either side of the head unit, push these in and wiggle the whole head unit forwards. Pull it all the way out.

At the back on the top is a connector that is blue yellow and green. You want to replace the blue plug with the blue end of the ebay cable. To do this you have to unplug all three of the coloured plugs. They are clipped together and held in by a lug on each side. The blue bit will NOT pull out on its own.Once all three are pulled out seperate the blue one with another lug that pushes in and clip in the new blue one.

Then thread the aux e bay wire down the back where all the other cables go, it should drop out by the footwell with a bit of poking. You may need to pull the side panel off under the dash, the carletted one on the transmission tunnel, pull sideways from the footwell end and it will pop off. The wire then can then be threaded into the glovebox. Feed another wire down from inside the glovebox and join the 2 and then pull both back.

Then push the head unit back into place, This took 4 attempt as wires kept getting cought so be patient.

Then all I did was connect my mp3 player and select cd on the head unit and sound came out. Better than the cd player I think, less harsh in the treble and a more solid thump in the bass. Love it. I also removed the phone and am putting an mp3 player holder there, if anyone wants info will post. Very happy with this cheap mod.

Do you lose the single CD player as well or just the 6 CD changer?

No, as you say a PITA and especially trying to carry a pile of CDs. My Q7 has a built in hard drive to load them from an iPod or SD card which is nice and easy. That is why I need something to use my phone or iPod on the Cab. getting fed up of listening to the same CD! really missing Satellite radio as well. I guess this will also give you phone audio?

Thanks! Now just need confirmation that this will work on a 2008 without Nav
