Would anyone put a turbo on their GT3 engine?

Just curious... I know that the GT3's motor is far better than our stock... if so what would it be like with a turbo stuck on it ? Is this the GT2 ? or is the GT2 motor completely different?

Tell me upfront if its a completely dumb question :-) Cheers~

It is dumb to add turbos to a GT3.

A turbo on a GT1 block has been done, it is called a Turbo. See you local Porsche dealer for more info on the Porsche 911 Turbo.

Thanks adias and I'm sure you've caught on it... why is it so rare to hear of anyone modding a GT3 engine before? Maybe a stock GT3 motor is far better than your turbo will ever be? When push comes to shove what would you pick? GT3 vs. Turbo - No 360 degree assessment of 100 different areas... just what comes into your mind in the instant?

I have driven both extensively and I chose the GT3. I like NA engines and the race orientation of the GT3 suits my taste, but to each his own. I may end up in a turbo someday if the GT3 thing changes for me. Right now, I prefer the GT3.

The GT3 and the Turbo used to share the same base Mezger flat6 engine but they are different. The GT3 has a 8500RPM redline and the Turbo a 6500RPM redline and they use different internal parts. There's a fork on the road - turbocharged, get the Turbo. NA get the GT3.

These are $35k replacement engines... why run the risk to blow a Mezger engine by adding to it parts it was not designed for?

Adias:

+1 on why would you run the risk of blowing a GT3 motor with extensive modifications. I for one, would not. It's a great setup right from the factory that most people will never be able to take to the limit anyway. No reason to mess with it that much!
