There are some other responses regarding this. The stock air box is pretty good when you consider there are many race cars using the stock air box and just adding some heat shielding. So you can save your money or spend as you please - visually, nothing beats the look of a carbon fiber airbox

The intake will make a nice sound, power and engine response improvement on your 997. You can order the intake through Vivid and they will take good care of you, or you can also order the intake directly from us. PM me if you have any questions.

+1. You could just easily add a BMC air filter to the existing air box and get similar real world performance.

Yes I ordered one, unfortunately someone here had one and could have saved a few bucks. Here's the deal, I will tell you guys if this bolt on by itself works through constant intake tempature readings, both before and after install. Then we will know if it is money well spent.
i ordered this kit and sold it on ebay 3 days after i installed it. sure, it makes a lot of noise but that was about it. put your hand on that carbon fiber intake tube after a spirited drive.......it was africa hot. cold air intake, not so much.
There has been a ton written about aftermarket intakes in the past -- search is your friend here.
IMO, the Fabspeed unit is poorly designed. Do they seriously expect that the thin carbon shield perpendicular to the decklid prevents hot air from travelling to the filter and around the tube?
As for engine response and power improvements, decide for yourself, but I think the vast majority of folks who have chimed in on this issue in the past agree that its a mod you do for sound alone.
Lastly, I would think twice before installing BMC or any other oiled filter. Sure some guys will never have an issue, but many do ruin their MAF (search and see). IMO, if you want to do this mod, your best option is still EVOM because it uses a synthetic filter. For $40 I'd add the sock too, for extra protection.

I like mine, but agree that this is based on sound and aesthetics rather than substantial power gains. No MAF issues after 17,500 miles; I clean and oil in the spring and the fall. I do wish that Fabspeed would design and sell and airbox which sealed to the existing intake vents to minimize hot engine bay air
Wow guys as always thanks for the input. It has arrived, cars at paint will install later. So seems that most returns on this are derogatory. I'll accept that. I have a mechanical background, I will find the power gain if it's there... If not I will be sure to make sure others know. The way I plan on investigating this is through the durametric program reading intake temp from the MAF, softronics... If it does not illustrate cold air across the sensor then I believe "cold air intake" would be a false advertisement. When ol'blkbty gets back from paint we will see.
