Has anyone else had to REPLACE Pilot Super Sports yet?
Has anyone else had to REPLACE Pilot Super Sports yet?
I just put a comment in another thread but thought this might deserve its own.
My GTS was new in late February and came with PS2's. I replaced all 4 with a set of the Pilot Super Sports at 2700 miles. That included 5 track and 3 AX days. I replaced the front pads at the same time.
4700 miles later I just replaced the rear PSS's. The left rear was beginning to show cords on the inside edge. Although I got more miles, I only had 3 track days and 3 AX events on this set.
When I replaced the first set of tires I changed camber settings from stock to maximum negative camber, which ended up being just over -1 degrees in front and about -2 degrees in back.
Presently, the front tires still look fine. Since I'm obviously riding on the inside edge of the rears, it occurs to me that I might benefit from decreasing the negative camber in back. I think the car may be a little unbalanced as well, with so much more negative camber in the rear.
Anyone have any thoughts?
I have to say I really like these tires. They handle as well or better than the PS2's and seem to be more durable. What's not to like?

I agree, which should make the OP think.
Please keep us posted -- I'd love to know if they stand behind the warranty and if they give you any resistance since you've tracked the tires. I'd be very surprised if I can get even 10k miles on a set (with occasional track use) so if they really do pro-rate from 15k then the tires are an even better deal.
Have had the PSS since May, and about 3,000 miles since, including 2 track days (one in the rain). The wet / dry grip on the tires as well as ride comfort are superior - love the new shoes. Minimal detectable wear at this point, so I would concur with comments of others regarding set up and warranty.

I was having same problem with wear in the rear with max camber and reduced it only to find the car to drive horribly so went back. Improved to the way I was used to it. Have a set of PSS to put on but havent changed yet.
