Q: Other than dynamite, what else goes Boom?

A: The engine in my Car!

I posted a thread last Friday regarding a weird gurgling sound and the Check Engine light coming on. Got a call from the local Porsche Dealer yesterday afternoon and they said that the engine needs to be replaced. Can't quite recall what the found wrong as I was a bit in shock at hearing the news. Have asked them for more details and will post when I get them. All I can say is thank heavens for a warranty!!!

They said that they have put the order in and it will take 5-7 business days to get the engine. That's fair enough but I am wondering if anyone can help answer these questions:

1 - What engine will they order? Do they have spare 05 engines kicking around or will it be a newer one?

2 - What kind of warranty will Porsche provide with the new engine?

All input is appreciated.

IMS? In any case I hope Porsche will cover the cost or at least a major portion.

Wow. Please post what happened so we all get some feedback. Sounds like your warranty was a good investment. I don't know how Porsche will treat the new engine warranty, but I would assume there would be something on that - not a common occurance!

Good luck with it and let us know how it goes.

So, just to clarify, if the engine blows up, is it covered under CPO warranty - No questions asked?

this happened in summer 09...PCNA gave dealer a little trouble at first saying they wanted to try to fix the engine...

dealer presisted and I got a brand new engine.

Cayenne at first but then gave it back and drove my boxster.

Just heard back from Porsche and they said that there was significant scoring in one of the cylinders and this is the reason for the replacement. Car is an 05 with Just over 30,000 Kilometers on it...

+2. This is why I got an extended warranty.

Can you believe some ****** gave me a negative rep earlier this year because I recommended an extended warranty to the OP?

Hope that yahoo reads this thread.
