Need some help... C4S to GT3 RS
Need some help... C4S to GT3 RS
I have an '09 C4S PDK. I use it a few days a week to the city and back - late spring, summer and early fall only. On weekends, I sometimes have my boys (7 and 5) in the back in their Recaro kid seats.
I am thinking about upgrading, and I am considering a GT3 RS. I just love the look and the sound of that car. I haven't driven one and not sure if it just wouldn't suit the way I use my current car. I don't track my C4S and there is a good chance that the GT3 RS would not visit the track as well. Alternately, should I wait for a 991 instead. No real reason to change my C4S now, except that I have an itch since I saw the Grey/Red GT3 RS combo.
Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks....
PS - I know I will need to add seat belts to the rear of the GT3 RS so the boys can ride.

I know there are no rear seats in the GT3 or 3RS. I pulled out the rear seats in my C4S and installed 2 Recaro Vivo booster seats. Seats fit perfectly and are comfortable for my boys.
Good luck with it and let us know how this goes down for you.
The topic of adding rear seats in a GT3 or GT3 RS has been discussed before and someone brought up a good point. What would happen if you are involved in an accident? What if there are injuries to the rear passengers? How will the insurance company deal with it?
Due to these concerns, I would not do so if it's my car.

Did you see Cattman's post seeking advice about switching to a GT3 RS? It's still on the first page. Worth checking out.
Hard to imagine it's going to make sense without track use being part of the picture...but hey, who said it has to make sense.
I saw an add for a Vesuvio (my favorite, albeit RARE, modern color) GT3 RS that got me thinking...and I can promise you that it makes ZERO sense for me to buy a GT3 RS as my only Porsche (which it would have to be.)
Sometimes these things just get stuck in your head. Good luck.

If it's just the look you are after and it sounds like it. Just get a body kit. That way, you can have your rear seats and the look you want. Just a thought

wow - cool concept. But what will the boys do when they outgrow their seats and want to ride with dad?
BTW- how do you like your C4S? Is it the launch car with Sport bucket seats and PDK? I was looking at maybe getting into one... or a GT3, or a turbo... argh.

I also have 2 young sons and am not able to take them for rides in it, but I have the CTT for that. I would like to add the recaro vivo booster seats if its safe and easy to do, for the few times I would take them for rides.

+1. Don't get a .2RS if you're not tracking it. You are wasting your money, and the car.
Any other 911 variants are way more comfortable and just as fast for daily use.

Ok, so I test drove a 997.2 GT3 yesterday and while its an amazing car, I now understand all the comments about it not being ideal for my purposes (family fun with 2 young boys). Also, considering my wife often drives my C4S PDK, I can see her having much less fun in a GT car. So I think I found a solution to my upgrade dilemma - keep the C4S until I am ready to switch to a 991 C4S/GTS/Turbo, most likely a 50th "anniversary edition", and get a 997.2 GT3 RS (grey/red) as another horse in my stable :-)
Thanks guys for all your input and ideas.
