Best 911 for under $60k USD?

I understand this is not a princely sum of money to many of you but if your budget were limited to $60k or less and you were pretty much set on some sort of Porsche 911, which model and year would you shoot for?

I'm looking for a rewarding driving experience that I'm not really getting with the e92 M3. I don't care about back seats. I do care about being connected to the road and having fun in my car.

Lack of bluetooth and iPod connectivity stinks, but as long as an aftermarket solution exists, I'm fine with that as well.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Great question. We're getting to the point where some pretty sweet 997Ss will be available for that price. Alternatively, if maintenance costs are not an issue and you're looking for more of a purist 911 experience, check out a 993 turbo, or the 3.6 964 turbo. Low mile 993 C2Ss can be had for high 40s to mid 50's and are very sweet cars as well. My vote for all around driveability and connectivity, which you mentioned earlier, would be to try to get into a 997.1 S with bluetooth and ipod options.

Well for $60,000 you have a lot of options, the one question I have is are you looking for a Carrera S or Non S, me I went with a S and believe your experience will be exciting. I ended up getting a MoBridge Bluetooth/iPod that linked perfectly with the car, almost OEM. I would cruise around cars.com or eBay. Another great search is a certified Porsche which you can also search thru the porsche.com website which if you ask me would be the best place to go to first, CPO is the best way to go! Good Luck with your search!

I'd say get a 996 Turbo and mod it up a little bit. Or buy one already modded.

Or save another $10k and keep your eyes open for a good deal on a 997 turbo.

I would think a nice 997 C2S with 30K or so miles (maybe less) could be had in that range. 2005-2007/8 depending on mileage, options, etc. That's what I would do. I would try to avoid 2005's if possible due to IMS issues but if it's the right car, with PPI I would also consider this year.

I sold my black on tan 2006 Carrera 4S manual with Sport exhaust, Sport Chrono, full leather for $55K. It had 22K miles and no accidents, dings, etc. A great, great car!

Wow, decisions, decisions.

Thanks everyone for all your input. I had not thought some of these cars were in my price range but it seems they are.

I'd love a 993 Turbo but those are still $70k+ (amazing resale value). The 993 Carrera S are about the same price as the 997 Carrera S, and I am sure I'd prefer the 997.

I guess that the 997.1 S is probably what I should be looking for?

Yes it is sold,....

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...-wow-sold.html

Mine was a hair more than $60K BUT when they did the PPI...the shop was astonished by how clean it was! So it would have been worth the few thousand dollar stretch,IMO....especially with the mods!
The new owner has been asked everywhere he goes what year it is.....when he says '05......people cannot believe it,they figure it is brand new!
I enquired while at the shop that did the PPI and FWIW...I think the 993's require some really expensive maintenance to be perfect and up to date,so be sure that it is before you buy!

Cheers,

Stacy
