I have a 2009 997.2 cab, with the multi-function steering wheel and shift buttons. I'd like to swap it for the simpler paddle shift wheel out of a GTS without the multi-function buttons.

Mechanically it is a simple proposition, but can someone give me a sense of how difficult it is for the dealer to change the coding?

No coding necessary, just swap and go.

Be careful of the flat airbag cable if you DIY

 

I just purchased a 2009 c2s and my multi-function buttons are very worn (volume and scroll) Can I replace these buttons only or do i need to do a wheel swap?

If I have to do a wheel swap like for like do I need a new airbag etc..
