New car owner
Hello everyone. I've been in the market for a porsche for a few years now and i'm just waiting to find the right one in my price range. I almost purchased a 06 CPO 997 C2S a year and a half ago but decided I wasn't ready yet. Now I'm in the market again and I think I've found a nice deal but it has some high miles and carries no warranty.
The car is a black on black 06 997 C2S with 79k miles. Items recently replaced are tires, rims (black), battery (1yr old), air oil separator, brakes, rotors, and headlights. The overall condition of the interior and exterior is excellent. The first owner put 68k miles (apparently a lot if hwy) on it but I don't have a lot of info on him. The last owner seemed to be very meticulous and kept good records. He traded it in because he was having his 2nd child. History report is solid. The last owner cannot tell me if the clutch has been replaced though. I took it for a test drive and dropped it in 4th around 30mph, felt strong with no slippage. I've got the price down to 35.8k, does this seem like a good deal?
The car will share time with my daily driver.

So I've done some more research. Both oil change and transmission flush has just been performed. I was able to speak with the dealership that performed all the previous maintenance inspections and all recommended repairs were performed at 20/40/60k. The clutch and fly wheel were also replace at 58k. My dilemma is that a aftermarket warranty with my local dealership is $6600 for 24k miles pending an inspection and the car is located an hour and a half away. Obviously this way too much to spend. I can however get a warranty through warranty solutions who is owned by wells Fargo for about half the price. I'm really tempted to make this purchase.

You got some good preliminary information... now get it verified, and looked at a bit deeper.
By the way, is it a Porsche dealer, and are they willing to CPO the car if you pull the trigger on a $6600 warranty?

No, it would not be a CPO deal. They are offering an extended warranty through their 3rd party affiliate Easycare. The car is currently at a Subaru dealer so they would be able to offer it as a CPO.

Even more reason to get a PPI and DME scan on it. I got an aftermarket warranty on the drive train and wheels/tires. It has already paid off, as I have replaced a bent wheel, and broken shift linkage, with only a small deductible.
When it comes to warranties please shop carefully. Try to find the "exclusionary" type. That is the one that specifically tells you in writing what they do not cover. If it is not listed, it is covered. Keeps the disputes to a minimum should the need arise.
