The 997 has been out for a while now....I just can't warm up to the new look guys. I'm not saying it's bad, just that if i had to chose, I still like the look of the 996 more. The new headlights and tail lights just don't do it for me. The line the rear bumper has also is kinda weird to me. On a positive note, I like the coke bottle look of the fenders and the new interior. I wish Porsche kept the 996 headlights and the C4S tail light witht the center reflector. I'm curious to see what the new TT will be like.

 

It reminds me of the 993 which I like - I think the interior is too much. My next Porsche will be a low mileage 993 - unless they change the interior on the 997 TT

 

the new look without any aero parts is always looking weak. not saying the new aerokit is great looking but if u look back to the very C2 that came out in 99 side by side with a ''naked'' 997 the choice will be very clear. however the early C2 with the aerokit still looks good imo. the best part though if u see a naked 993 C2S or 4S nowadays i was amazed how nice it looks.

 

Does this mean that even though I'm a 997S owner I can go on the Boxster board and let everyone know how much I don't like the new Boxsters?

I'm not, and no, it's not cool (unless you're a TT owner I guess). I really don't care what anyone thinks. I don't however understand why a TT owner would go onto the 997 board to post their negative opinion of that car. It serves no purpose and is somewhat rude I think.

I'm going to have to stop listening to the opinions on this board. I'm old enough to have been through several different "911" series now and everytime a new version comes out tons of people bash it for a few months to a year and then they all end up buying one of the new versions. So ridiculous.

 

haha he's selling the 996 turbo cab now... for what i'm not sure. maybe for a 997

 

I think the 997 is the ugliest POS to ever roll out of Porsche. Anyone who thinks they look good should be banned from this forum...

at first i didn't like it much, but
personally i looooove the design of 997 now.
overall much more solidified and mature design over 996.

i can't wait until 997 gt3 comes out,
depends on its spec
i'll place an order on either 997 gt3 or 997s.

I was just gonna post the same thing but then I thought better of it. didnt want all the heat from the 996 owners.

Now that i have bought my first 911, you know how your eye starts looking at EVERY PORSCHE on the street......know what I'm saying..??

Anyway, I really really dislike the 996 (except MAYBE the turbo, GT2, GT3). Cant even tell it apart from the BOXSTER on the street.

I am a HUGE 993 fan, that is the best looking of all IMO. THATS the car that made me fall in love with 911's. So when they released the 996 I stayed VERY FAR AWAY FROM PORSCHE, just hated the look + the weak-*** BOXSTER headlights.

Then I saw the 997, and bought one within a week. EXACTLY what I was waiting for.

i just think it (especially the S) is gorgeous. and the sound, is typical yummy porsche which skipped a generation from the 993 to the 997.
