i know.
but that is how i broke in my 3 new cars i had and never had issues. you will vary those rpms while regular highway driving enough for break-in. core thing here is to get engine to operational temperature, keep it stable, do not force it and let all surfaces to work off edges, 5-6 hours will do it. so, one can do what one wants. but worst thing to do to new motor is start it dead cold and then force it across whole rpm range scraping sh$t from cylinder walls and scratching contact patches.

i also add plenty of ZDDP additives at that time to stock oil. i guess it is also would not be recommended by factory.

LOL, yes, I am about a year and 11 months from adding an SC back onto this car! I've sold my kit, which is too bad, but I'll get another when the time comes.

As for oil and break-in, I am running through the RPM range, and will change the oil at 2k miles, and again at 5k miles. That's obsessive, but that's how I am going to do it. I did not do the aftermarket replacement IMS bearing, didn't think it necessary- this engine has an updated bearing, and I really think the failure rates are low. Just because it happened to me, I won't over-estimate it's frequency. However, when it's time for a new clutch, I'll consider it, as the engine will be another couple of years older.

I sure do miss that extra 150hp though! I am now realizing how incredible that VF-E SC system really is.

It's a new engine after break in period, it's time to turbo charge it. You have already tried SC induction. Try something different.

i also do not think it will matter much to stay off redline after first 500 miles. best way to break it in is to get on a day trip and travel 300-400 miles during that day at steady 3k rpm on a highway.
Steady at 3K revs on the freeway for 300-400 miles??? That is the most absurd statement on how to run in an engine I have ever heard!!! But I do agree with an early oil change 1000-1500 miles to dispose of metal.
