altering the Dectane rear LED
altering the Dectane rear LED
does anyone know how to open the taillight assembly from Dectane?
or how to alter the LED so i can turn off the inside row of the LEDs?
i want the C-shape like the OEM when the Lights are turned on.
OEM (V35) vs Dectane (sideWays_swe) for comparison.

Aren't they covered for a year under warranty?
Other taillights typically come open by baking them at 180-200deg until the adhesive becomes soft and allows you to pop them open. I have not attempted this on any Dectane taillights, but this is the typical approach.
However, even if you can get them open, I would caution against just clipping the wires leading to the row of LEDs you want to shut off. You may unintentionally cause the entire circuit to go out, depending on how they are wired. It will also change the resistance, and you may end up getting a warning light or fast blinnker... etc.

can someone try cutting the wires and let me know the results ??

i don't have intention of baking the lights myself.. or cutting the wires unless it's been tried..
if i can't get it like oem, i will prob re-sell it.

i was hoping for an easier way to alter the look
Good Question
I would love to know if this is possible too. Anyone have any contacts to Dectane, maybe they can provide some insight or come out with a new version

I like them too...but i never see them except maybe a reflection in a window so the look really doesn't matter to me and I don't care what the guy following me thinks.
I think, though I haven't seen the actual lights, that their may be an easy solution to fixing the C shape when the car brakes. The rest of the LEDs light up when the rear fog is turned on correct? Can't you just splice the wires that go to the rear fog into the wire that controls the brake lights so technically when the brake is pressed the rear fogs will turn on along the the regular "C" and complete the pattern

But there's still only one fog light whether you're in NA or Europe.
