Keep in mind I had a 997.1 and i had the Porsche X-51 headers but... There was a marked difference in noise from my car even at idle with the exhaust on or off. It made a big difference.

Given the Carnewal solution ( http://www.carnewal-europe.com/cpx_p97084.htm ) indicates its compatible with RoW HomeLink, does that mean one can program one of the 'homelink' buttons to activate the exhaust?

It was not compatible with the homelink in my 997.1. I don't know about the .2 cars but it was my experience that the owner/proprietor was very knowledgable, very quick to respond, and very easy to work with. You might try emailing him.

Yes. Beautifully made piece and substantially lighter than the PSE option.

I didn't think it sounded enough like a Porsche. But that's me.

In my opinion, video clips online do not do justice to exhaust changes. You have to hear them in person (in the car and out). For example, and no offense intended to anyone, I know a lot of P car guys love the Fabspeed products. I did not like the two I heard from inside the car. Too boomy for me.

Here in S. CA we are blessed with great weather, a vibrant car culture and an active PCA. I found it pretty easy to hear all kinds of options first hand (AWE, Fabspeed, Tubi, Gundo Hack, PSE) and would suggest that anyone considering an exhaust or header change try and do the same thing. Worst/worse see if your chapter of the PCA doesn't have a breakfast club type event regualarly schedule.d

You can run a simple on/off switch to the solenoid from fuse box.
I mounted mine in the ashtray. Did this to both my 06S and my 09S.
06!was amazing, did do X51 headers first. The 09 is not quite as loud because of rear muffler.
You still have to run the vacuum lines and solenoid, otherwise on all the time.
